My suggestion was that the FF were around in the 60s, they fought Kang (a time-traveling villain we have not yet seen) and at the end, they captured a time machine and decided to go see what “the future” is like. And then they just jump to the present day. Boom. Done.

Pretty much exactly. I don’t want to be reminded of Trump. He’s fucking ubiquitous and I can’t stand looking at him or hearing him yammer anymore. Why would I go see a movie that’s just two extra hours of my day reminding me of how shitty he is?

I know this sounds stupid, but does anyone remember the silly Jim Carrey movie from the 90s, “Liar Liar”? I sometimes daydream about that kid making another wish like that, about Republicans.

The thing that always infuriates me about these “You can’t go after someone for something that happened thirty years ago, it’ll ruin their life” comments:

Oh, absolutely. And I am not discounting the possibility that Ellison is attempting to bluster his way through a real, serious allegation by taking a public stance that there is no video while in some way privately attempting to intimidate Monahan from releasing it. I’m entirely sincere in wishing that we knew one way

This has been your daily reminder that for all our talk about rape culture, the most common use of “she wanted it” is by shitty defense attorneys in the courtroom because it’s the only defense they have when a rapist is otherwise caught dead to rights.

Huh. Would have thought “She’s just a gold digger” would be somewhere on there.

Same here, and they’ve done a few feature-length ones as well (including an unedited version of “Angels’ Revenge”). It’s nice to get a voice and a perspective other than Mike/Bill/Kevin.

I’d be more inclined to agree with you if she didn’t say things like, “You know I have the video and more. I am still trying to offer grace and a way out.” There’s no other way to read that statement than a threat to release the video if Ellison doesn’t withdraw from the race. I’m finding it hard to parse the specific

I don’t disbelieve her because of the public perception of Ellison. But I do find it troubling that she continues to say that she has video evidence to back her claims, but won’t show it to anyone. I can very easily understand not wanting to make the video public—the last thing she wants is to see her private pain on

1) Thai peanut sauce. I don’t really have anything relevant to say about this. I just really fucking love Thai peanut sauce.

Well, the practical formula is to treat any situation with a lone adult and a child as a potential abuse situation. My kid is in Boy Scouts, and the Scoutmaster has volunteered to us the information that a rule of the organization is that kids are never allowed to be alone with the Scoutmaster. There should always be

“‘He Too’ is entitled to due process.”

Either these volunteers know enough about the cars to be considered ‘trained’, in which case they should be paid for their labor the same as anyone else doing a job for the company with an equivalent level of expertise, or they don’t, in which case Tesla shouldn’t use them because they don’t know enough about the

I don’t know the specifics of this case, but pedophiles are very good at presenting just the right image to parents to make them seem like trustworthy people with the child’s best interests at heart. We all want to believe that we would spot a terrible person, but in reality there’s a bias to accept the idea that

I don’t think they’re having the fundraiser because Netflix won’t give them any money; Joel made it sound like it was mainly a community-building way of selling merchandise. :)

I’m with you. It was as good as I needed new MST3K to be, and there are quite a few episodes in there (“Cry Wilderness”, “Avalanche”, “Starcrash”) that have become frequent ‘comfort food’ eps. The corporate zombies at Netflix know how often I’ve replayed Season 11, and they are satisfied. :)

“I understand college very well. Now, that’s where you cut up all the old pictures and paste them together to make a new picture, right?”

Thanks. I’m still on the fence--I don’t love the “woman is brutalized and takes her revenge” trope much either--but I’m at least glad to know that they don’t kill off a trans character to motivate the cis women.

I wish this remake had taken a tip from Norman and walked into the Pacific Ocean.
