He lost me at the something-something about real soundtracks at the time. Rancid, the Presidents, the Toadies and Green Day pervaded the airwaves; none of whom were on the ER soundtrack.

I saw Empire records as more of a "day in the life" for a bunch of aimless twenty-somethings who worked at a music store. When I was that age, everyone was struggling with life-defining issues and locally, the indie music stores were run very similarly. Clearly, for some, a movie like this can be overthought, with

If you'd had them for roommates, you'd discover all kinds of homemade smoking devices. After 5 times, I stopped replacing the screens in the faucets.

I have to wonder how much I'd have liked Singles had it not been immersed in the grunge era. It is still genius, though.

I was referring to the Jaqen incarnation, sorry. You're right, Arya is on the same path….

What he did was reveal that shocking events, if written well and effectively integrated into the story, will keep people watching. Even more so if they're blinded by the fact that this season was only about 5 episodes worth of relevant material stretched out over an entire season (this included me until 4 episodes

I have my three staples - The Hot Chick, The Animal and of course, Deuce Bigelow. Most of the stuff he did for Sandler's pics were obligatory and throwaway material.

I think "Emma Stone" was a marketing ploy, not a character.

This makes me think of Tarantino; esp. his characters played by him.

I think Amy Heckerling put him up to it.

She's busy, she bought a zoo, I heard. With Matt Damon or some other H'wood darling.

It was a sorry-not-sorry, from Crowe's standpoint. Apparently he didn't get the memo that you can't make a film in Hawaii without it being ABOUT Hawaii. I don't think Sandler or Apatow got that memo either.

Because he had to pay for the rights to use the clever dialogue "twister with your sister".
