but it’s not hard to blame them for occupying Gaza/the West Bank and shooting Palestinian civilians just because the PLO/Hamas/whichever organization’s got a burr up its butt this week decides to launch a few rockets.

Nicely cobbled together.

Really? They’d disagree with me conceding the point in order to prolong a pointless argument? That doesn’t sound like the Irish I know.

This sucks. He’s pretty high up on the list of guys we never really got to appreciate because he was never on a good enough team/had the right teammates.

Sorry but why is the holocaust in quotation marks?

The first line in the article of The Troubles that is linked to there reads:

Truth be told, 90% of why I might comment on a soccer story is so I can eventually make up some fictitious 4th division English team names.

Wasn’t that Northern Ireland?

Right but I’m assuming the fortunes of Ifflewick Town FC or Dagsblood and Eelbane United don’t generally impact on who Manchester City can add from year to year.

I’m by no means a soccer expert but MLS, which I figure to be the 6th or 7th best league on the planet(maybe?), having 50% more teams than the Premier league seems like a bad idea for quality of play.

So, what, you’re not even going to have a bass?

This resonates deeply with me. I’m not a guitar hoarder(I have 6 or 7 in various states) but I was raised by a Luthier who then went and got a white collar job and has turned into the hoarder of all hoarders. Like Dave, it’s mainly old and cheap stuff. National, Kay, Dano, but with the occasional Guild or Martin

Well, I think that’s exactly it. They want that sort of initial rush of “Oh militias, civil unrest, that’s topical” but they don’t want to back it up with a perspective or sense of grounding that could even alienate a single potential buyer.

I didn’t say they prevented layoffs. I said they ensured things like pay, benefits and what I think you meant to say which is some level of 401k matching.

Guarantee that those things aren’t subject to an employer’s whims.

Even if that is what he’s saying, and you having to suppose what he’s saying is my point, then the fact remains that this guy isn’t the typical Barstool employee but one of the guys who’s likely to be best paid and valued by the company.

He may have had a lot of jizz socks but my guess is they were small socks.

It would also be helpful to maybe specify why they think unions are generally good but specifically bad beyond “I like my boss”.

My guess is Barstool fans have a pretty nuanced take on union advocates in sports. I’m guessing they think of Andy Messersmith as being a team-first, scrappy and hustling labor man as opposed to Curt Flood and his athletic, showboating, individualistic take on worker’s rights.

I don’t see why “The Beatles were four guys” matters. It’s not like someone would only know one of the four. If you know who the Beatles are, and again they sold like half a billion records, you know who Lennon and McCartney are. It’s not like knowing them both makes them each half as famous.
