See Melville's Army of Shadows if you want a good example of what it takes to fight the power. It takes more than a bunch of ewoks.

I thought it was great, but the recasting through me off. Also, there were a lot of plot lines to try and remember.

What was that fluid? That Hap drowned the other guy in. Another weird Brit Marling thing, like the construction the little girl was making in Soundbof My Voice. And the authorities are never to be trusted!

Well said. I think it fits nicely with Sound of My Voice and Another Earth and I Origins, with it's Sci-fi/magical realism, charismatic leader who seems a little off, elements. I like that she doesn't tie the stories up in a bow, and that she includes just enough scenes taken from a different non-relateable

The Lobster was awful. Just a dreadful punishment of a movie, with tiny moment of humor sprinkled in to make one feel like it is going somewhere. Sour and dour. Don't be fooled.

I loved it. Every second of it.

I like The 5000 Fingers of Doctor T!

I wish you wouldn't have used the word "privilege" in reference to Fiona's not wanting any part of the meth.

Does he sell tickets?

The movies are getting that way.

And Doctor Strange was modeled on Vincent Price. Movies cast actors who get people to buy tickets. I didn't see any male actors complaining about gender-washing. This is all pretend! All these stories have been retconned and retold and modified over and over for since they began being told and sold. It's not

I saw Hayley and Thomas as both having a victory! Thomas let go, put his baby out into the world in the hands of someone else, and Hayley followed some philosophical advice from a world class violinist about conducting, and it was a success. It was great.

I thought it was great. Everything about it worked for me. (Plan to post this for every episode)

6 Degrees of Situation is the best spellcheck joke this holiday season!

Paired with Old Gene Hackman

Paired with Old Tommy Lee Jones

He was young. His whole thing was making old guys look good. Then he played Ali. Nobody should have thought they could play Ali.

This sounds like a cool story , if it was about (and for) a 13 year old girl.

Yeah, I also think mourning is not an immediate response, especially when the person who died was not in the mourner's day to day life.

Nice write-up, except that Wes Anderson does not truck in irony. There is zero irony in his movies. They are so naked and sincere that many people label them as ironic because the honesty makes them uncomfortable. I think your Elliot Smith story here drives that idea home.
