The difference is that fandom has a much bigger influence now thanks to the Internet, which was still largely a cultural hinterland in the ‘80s and ‘90s. I’m just glad James Cameron is in charge of 13 Avatar sequels no one asked for. It seems like those are really primed to do well. His writing game is on fucking point. 

But Eve rescuing Krypto and then flying off with him was a big plus.

Realizing completely that this article is two weeks old (and thus completely internet obsolete) I still want to post a countertake:

I actually really enjoyed it, it’s definitely a slow burn and had pacing and plot more akin with your typical British TV series, but I like that as it adds realism.

All those poor people who named their kids Daenerys or Khaleesi.
