My wife and I saw Sir Paul a few years back and I I was mega impressed — for someone who definitely didn't need this shit (money, age, fame), he spent 2+ hours performing like he needed to win over every person in the massive stadium. I also thought of how cool it was to see all over the venue three generations of

My wife says late 80s … at least for Moscow. Consumer goods distribution was problematic throughout the country, so certainly some smaller cities could've experienced problems earlier.

The airport in Moscow wasn't called Sheremetyevo Terminal F in 1984; it was called Terminal 2.

Stripper Cubs + WU Cubs == best SNL this season to this Cubs fan. At least at 12:30 on Saturday night. Now thinking it over Monday morning I guess the show was a C, but the Cubs presence bumps it to a B-.

I showed my kids (6 and 3.5) the video for Thriller yesterday. Hours after bedtime, neither was sleeping. Connected??

Thanks for this. There are about two dozen more songs I would be happy to hear Ted talk about….if you go back to the well.

I grew up in the midwest and have dipped my (plain) chips in ketchup for as long as I can remember. My colleagues in NYC think it is a weird, disgusting behavior. Their loss.

Awesome feature. I used to love this soundtrack in 1994 but I haven't thought about it in twenty years, and can barely remember what any of the songs sound like except for NIN's Joy Division cover.

Bought this on iTunes first thing this morning and looking forward to listening to it on the subway ride home.

It's been awhile since I watched this…I've seen Brat 2 about a million times though, it seems. When I was living in Russia, I would always watch it to completion if it was on TV when I was flipping through the channels. Agree that Balabanov's other movies are also great. Speaking of no-budget Russian flicks, I also

"Shock Me" sends chills up my spine every time I hear it (which is just like three so far but still).

Thanks for the reminder to go order this 7"….even though I don't have a turntable.

That wikipedia page doesn't have all of Jandek's gigs listed. I saw him in Moscow, Russia sometime in 2010 I guess. https://www.youtube.com/wat…

I've spent far more time missing Milemarker than appreciating the continued existence of Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

even worse was my first too. followed by Poison's "Open Up and Say Ahhhhhh"

good to see Dixie get some love here. Heard it for the first time on a train back from Philmont ranch in New Mexico to Chicago,IL and it blew me away. Holy shit that was 20 years ago.

I got my Avail t-shirt probably at a Fireside Bowl show in 97 or 98 I guess. Hardcore block lettering on the front, dixie logo on the back. Still wear that shit today, much to my wife's chagrin.

I got this yesterday. It's fun to listen to, but it really feels like it combines the power-pop of Return of the Rentals with the introspection of Seven More Minutes and ultimately never reaches the highs of either. But I guess any 'new' Rentals material is better than no 'new' Rentals material.

my god it's full of stars

You know, I don't remember enough about the ending in either of them to say. I do remember being shocked they'd changed it though, which suggests I had at least liked the book's ending. I haven't read the book or seen the movie in at least 15 years though…
