Also, flat-noses breeds (who have a hard time breathing in the best of conditions) CANNOT go in the cargo hold for the same reasons they can’t go in the overhead bins - limited air. I’m sure it’s partially for their own liability protection that airlines won’t allow them under the plane.

I saw this huge, ugly thing heading from Solvang to Santa Barbara a month ago. Not attractive in person at all.
LAX has free parking for motorcycles in the regular garages (instead of long term) right there at the terminals. And most bikes are parked right near the most highly trafficked areas so theft would be very obvious. Add a lock to the wheels and I’m sure a plain old motorcycle would be fine for a day or two.
I back your 4th gen 4Runner plan. Even when stock, chasing my buddies’ built off-roaders, they’d be amazed at the capability of my 2004 4Runner. Now that it’s built (locker, lift, tires, protection, etc) it’s nearly unstoppable and will follow a Jeep up nearly any trail.
