Interesting! Definitely didn't know that.

I really hope CaptainJack is being satirical. He must be, right?
So, please, DO NOT take this as an argument in favor of drinking these beverages, but did anyone read the study protocol? They did 15 continuous minutes of exposure to the drinks, followed by two hours of artificial saliva. I could be wrong, but that seems like *WAY* more exposure time than is realistic. The…
How conclusive would you like your proof to be?
Yep, and I have no problem with that. I personally choose to get a flu shot every year, but if you don't want to (and you don't have significant, required contact with those for whom the flu is a serious concern) that's totally your business. I just wanted to make sure no one thought the shot could *lead* to the flu.
While not discounting your experience, there is NOTHING in a flu shot that can give you the flu.
Ethanol is less dense than water. If not mixed, it will float, not sink.
God, don't use butanol - the stuff reeks horribly. I use it almost daily at work and I *hate* it.
It's presumably very significant, as benzoyl peroxide is a pretty non-polar compound.
That seems pretty unlikely, but if you've got any non-pseudoscientific evidence to support it I could be convinced. Seems more like the fiber makes you feel full, so you don't consume as much.
"Fructose is more closely related to ethanol than it is to glucose" is absolutely, completely false. Glucose and fructose are both monosaccharides with the formula C6H12O6. Your point about different metabolic rates is good and worthwhile, but this comment will make people take you less seriously.
Yeah, stupid fructose - I hate that stuff! That's why I never eat any fruits or vegetables EVER - they're packed with it!
I thought I was being followed once on my way home after some after-school event (back when I was in high school, before all HS students had cell phones). The car was on me for the vast majority of the 4-mile route home. When I got to my house, I decided to continue on; roughly a half-mile ahead a golf course…
Yeah, it definitely hasn't been repeated with the same results anywhere but the original place.
It's possible I'm too late to get in on this, but slide three of this presentation from the CDC shows the correlation between approval of the Measles vaccine in the US and the drop in total number of cases. (the link is a pdf)
M-W definition #2 of moot: "Of little or no practical value or meaning."
Thanks! I've been here under an old username before (choiniej), but I finally just logged in with twitter. Makes things easier, but I needed to be re-approved or something. So again, thanks!
As a homebrewer who started with the Mr. Beer kit, I feel I have to tell you all, DO NOT buy this kit. Even $20 is too much. The product you make, even when you tweak the recipe, comes nowhere close to even resembling beer. If you're interested in brewing, spend the money to get a real starter kit ($60-$100,…
@DemiSouls - I'm not saying you didn't develop poor eyesight after reading in low light. However, I *am* saying that the low light didn't cause you to develop poor eyesight.
@bloodsugarwilksm - I shouldn't speak to both, because I haven't read Esselstyn myself, but I have read Ornish, and all his studies are uncontrolled. Can't get a valid scientific result that way.
