I'm not much of a concert goer but I've seen 10,000 Maniacs and Jane Siberry four times each. The Maniacs shows were pretty consistent - maybe a song or two swapped in or out - but the Jane Siberry shows were wildly different in scope, tone, and song selection. The first show of hers I saw is still the best live show

Now it's my turn.

I love Oblivious, so hard, and then Walk Out to Winter shows up and I love that even more.

These threads go on and on… it's like reading Warren Peace.

It followed the Gossip Girl model of a great first season and then…

Todd Haynes stayed amazingly close to the novel, which, as a fan of the novel, I liked. Reformed Donaldist is correct - Joan's Mildred Pierce tried to turn pure soap opera into film noir. If you want real Joan Crawford noir, Sudden Fear with Jack Palance is the one to watch.

Kirsty MacColl - Caroline
Magnetic Fields - I Hate California Girls
Iris DeMent - Shores of Jordan
Stevie Nicks - Everybody Loves You
June Christy - Aren't You Glad You're You?
The 6ths - You You You You You
Carly Simon - Jesse
Lone Justice - Working Late
George Michael - Heal the Pain
Primitives - Turn Off the Moon

That first season really was a lot of fun. And add me to the list of "Team Blair Rules, Team Serena Drools"

"Primarily known for its top-notch fried chicken and biscuits," - No.

For me, the real mother/daughter relationship on Gilmore Girls is between Lorelei and Emily. Their scenes were always my favorite in any episode. They were beautifully written and acted, and they (usually) zigged when you thought they would zag.

The WB's Popular. The advertising played it as straight teen drama, so the teens who tuned in didn't care for the satire, and the older folks like me who loved the satire wouldn't have known it from the advertising.

Baby Got Back, from the WB's Popular, when April Tuna auditioned for the Glamazons.

For me, it's The Best of Blondie.

I was late to the Fleetwood Mac game, and Mirage was their first album that really became part of my life vs. just hearing the singles on the radio. I wouldn't say it's my favorite - that would be Tusk, or Say You Will if I'm in a mood - but Mirage holds up beautifully.

I've been a fan of Maria's stand-up for a while. I've really enjoyed this series, partly because I get to see Maria vs. just hearing her on Sirius|XM, and partly because it's funny as hell.

I think it depends on the film, and how good the film-maker is at coming up with a "why" that works and is satisfying without spelling EVERYTHING out.

One of my favorite books is Joan's "My Way of Life" - part memoir, and part Martha Stewart before there was such a thing. This, more than anything else, has made me believe Christina's claims. It's sad, really. Joan comes off as completely detached from reality.

"C is the Heavenly Option" by Heavenly with Calvin Johnson makes me so happy.

Thriller sometimes suffers from trying to cram half an hour of plot into an hour show, but it can be surprisingly excellent.

Bingo. I saw Some Like it Hot on the big screen in the early 90s or so. I knew Marilyn as an icon but I'd never actually seen her in a movie. Watching that scene, my only thought was "ah, so THIS is why she's a legend"
