easy there, Sweet Trav. As a well educated person who considers himself in possession of more common sense than the average bear, I once found myself COMPLETELY surprised by a car. I still don’t know how it missed me, and I still don’t know where it came from. My phone was in my pocket and I was paying full attention

the ProjectFarm channel on youtube tests all kinds of things and a few weeks ago I watched the screwdriver one. He tested the whole range from $1 store cheapos, through Craftsman and up to SnapOn and beyond. I was surprised at how much you could spend on screwdrivers! IIRC SnapOn didn’t make the top of the list - the

normally I’d balk at the “bankrupt his family” line, but given how the family connections nearly got him off the hook on this one, I’m on board.

As the late, great George Carlin put it “I’m supposed to change my driving habits because your birth control failed?!?”    RIP George, you were one of a kind.

I’m not sure your average incel can delay their self abuse for an afternoon, let alone a month.

Note it’s not THEM paying for the cellular connection, it’s your OnStar account!  The first 3 years free is only bait on the hook - whatever goes wrong in the first 3 years is going to be minimal.   I’ve never paid for OnStar and don’t plan on starting anytime soon.

Nah, go high for the TVs.  As high as you can before it looks too close to the ceiling.

From what I’ve read so far, this was done in a company truck with 2 adults in the cab with him.  Smart money is on this not being his first coal rolling / bicycle threatening incident.  But even if it is, if he’s reached 16+ years old and still doesn’t know that’s wrong then it’s time for the law to teach what mommy

The lawyers for the victims are already making the point that “a very new and inexperienced driver” wouldn’t be coal rolling.  As I understand it, he coal rolled another group of bicyclists before plowing into this 2nd group.

Your approach sounds a lot like mine and my wife’s. Small, do-able steps. I think a big part of it is the example we set for the next generation. That’s where the biggest change will happen because let’s face it - there’s some individuals that will never let go of the meat-consuming identity they’ve built for

Agree, GuB - I’ll only add that looking for “complete proteins” will put you on the right track. Foods considered “complete proteins” include the amino acids that our bodies cannot make and must be obtained through diet - this is the gap you’re talking about.

Initially I liked the idea of having cork in the interior, but now that I’m thinking about it... cork gets grubby in a way that you can’t really clean.  Talk about planned obsolescence.   Or maybe it’s a special cork alloy of some sort?

Just an opinion here, but I want to share anyway: I find the “play something at random” button strikes close to the heart of what I consider a problem for many of us. Instead of sitting down and then FINDING something to watch (which means you’re planting yourself in front of a screen no matter what), why not do the

What am I missing - how does rolling a stop sign help here at all?  (aside from coming to an abrupt stop instead of a normal one, which if that’s what you’re doing then the software is working when it labels you a shitty driver)

When my State Farm agent suggested it for my teenage driver, all these problems flashed through my mind.  So I asked my agent if he used it, and he said no.  That’s all I needed to know.

Disagree.  Doesn’t matter what kind of car he drives; destroying city property is against the law, no matter the reason.   That said, if it were me and my stock car getting damaged, I’m pretty sure I would have done the same thing.

I’ve been theorizing that manufacturers won’t put phone-dedicated mounts in the dash because then they’ll get sued because by making a spot for a phone, they’re implicit in your phone use while driving. Hopefully I’m wrong and builtin phone mounts start appearing, but I can’t think of any other reason why they’re not

Antispaz, not sure what metric you’re using to get your “read” on my offense level, but I assure you it takes a lot more than this to offend me. I’m all for a little history or even some personal reflection, but when I click on an article for a drink recipe, I can’t help but expect a better ratio than 6:1 of musings:re

Manny, copyright nuance hadn’t occurred to me, thanks for the perspective.  It still doesn’t explain the gross imbalance of drink info to existential musings, though.

Thanks for the reply, Devojka! You’re spot-on, that’s exactly the type of info I was missing. If future recipes will include that kind of detail, I’m already excited for the next one!
