You’ve got to hit up thrift shops and estate sales. That’s how I found duplicates of my mom’s cookbook collection. Also the amazing sewing reference book from Reader’s Digest.

My mom’s BH&G is worn and well beloved, she gave new ones to us kids when we moved out but I haven’t done a comparison.

It’s pretty common in Texas to have ground beef in queso.

It is BH&G. I happen to have one sitting next to me. I pulled it out yesterday to find a recipe for London Broil, but I guess it’s not popular enough to keep in anymore.

I feel like you’d enjoy this:

I keep thinking about adding some chorizo to mine. But I typically have to be careful when I make it. Several of my friends can’t handle anything spicier than mild salsa, so I have to tone down the queso when I’m making it for a party.

Thanks!! This whole class warfare thing is a really bizarre take to me. And I’m as bleeding heart liberal, on the side of the oppressed, thinks too many people are in jail, as they come.

That way my thought too, fellow knitter. Anyone with a couple hours, some chunky yarn, and very basic skills could knock out a pussy hat; no way they are gonna get enough of these to make any kind of mass visual impact.

So I have a general question. There’s a baking competition that I’d like to enter at some point, but the requirements state that they’re looking for an “original recipe”, and I’m not sure how to interpret that. If I take my standard chocolate cake recipe, and replace the water with beer, is that now original? or do I

Acting seems to attract a lot of very damaged people.

I knit so many pink hats upon request from friends and was shipping boxes of hats all across the US. The pattern was simple enough that I could crank out a hat in a couple hours. Unfortunately, these gloves will take significantly longer to complete as designed. I really don’t see it catching on as quickly—unless

One of the beautiful things about non-cloned animals and humans is that we stretch ourselves to love different personalities, different quirks, and different ways of being. This is how we evolve.

Most of these things (aside from the 401k fees, and knowing how much you want to make**) sound like..adulting.

Earth diseases? Apologies, I’m not familiar with this term.

I always felt really bad for Johnny. All he really needed as a good role model, and he got that asshole sensei instead. You can see how he twisted Johnny in the tournament scenes. “Sweep the leg....you got a problem with that Lawrence?” Hell, Johnny is downright distraught after he sweeps the leg.

Seriously. The first TNG season is some of the worst TV out there at times. While DS9 S1 is uneven, it has some great episodes like the pilot and “Duet,” which really showed what the program could be about.

Is that gif from the episode where Quark is explaining the Federation to Garak using root beer as an example? I loved that scene.

Best Star Trek *period*

I’m with you. Diana was doing groundbreaking AIDS work in the 1980s, long before her marriage broke up. None of you are old enough to remember this, but she held hands with AIDS victims when that really bloody meant something.

She’s not allowed to make political statements. William is president of Bafta. Why should she sit out? Can we stop vilifying women who aren’t doing Times Up well enough?
