I think a couple of the other women who are doing well were also pole vaulters, and some of the men. I think they’ve commented on it a couple of times, that pole vaulters seem to do well on the course. I’ve never done pole vaulting, always seemed scary to me, but I wonder if that’s part of it, the courage and accuracy

I don’t remember when I started reading the books (I think 5 of them were out), but I always took the Nimbus 2000 broom to be from the year 2000, especially when the Nimbus 2001 came out the next year. That all worked for me until Harry saw his parents’ tombstone with their date of death. That bothered me for the

Two things: PERFUME and CIGARETTE SMOKE SMELL. You wanna hug me, you better not have enough of either of those things on you to get them on me. I will (want to) cut you. Well, not really, but I will be totally pissed and desperate to get away and take a shower and wash my clothes.

September’s a bad month. I was home sick on 9/11 and had just turned on the TV for background noise. I wasn’t really paying attention, I thought it was some kind of memorial program on the Oklahoma City bombing, took me a while to figure out that it was a new tragedy, just couldn’t wrap my mind around what was

I was in Florida visiting my grandparents. There was a story about a British couple who were there on vacation and when someone told them what had happened, the woman fainted on the beach, and then they immediately flew home. I stayed up to watch the funeral live, about 2 a.m. my time, which was really sad because the

Love that, but this gets the tears gushing every time:

I’m pretty sure most of the comedic beats and payoffs are in the 2nd half. But it’s still BSG, plenty of dark drama and tragedy, and really the comedy is more dark, too, not jokey or cheerful banter.

I couldn’t stop watching the mouth, I think maybe she got upper lip fillers or something? That upper lip just did not move right.

Seriously, I was just thinking that this would be a bad first date movie...just too much.

He didn’t want to show his girdle.

I had the same thought. It took me a while to find the avocado.

And now I need to watch Psych again.

Yep.

Is it kind of like that blue/white dress? ‘Cause all I see is the Rock.

That was my favorite part of it, too - the way he kept interrupting the movie review with narrations of the email he was going to send to his boss for making him do this movie. Makes it one of my favorite EWW videos.

Furry dragon cat. That makes me want to see it.

Yeah, didn’t he get offered the part of Ra because they liked him in the Crying Game? Seems like I read this whole story where he didn’t really like acting, so he asked for a million dollars to play Ra and they gave it to him, and he took it and went off and never acted again, went into fashion or something. My vet gave me some sort of mild sedative when I was driving with my cat for 2 days across many states. It worked great. He just lay there with his eyes half closed, studying his front paws like they had the answer to the deepest meaning of life. But that was many years ago, don’t know if vets will still prescribe

Then you might like “Tooth and Claw” by Jo Walton - think Pride and Prejudice, with dragons. Though, honestly, I think the Temeraire series is a lot better, but also a lot longer, 7 or 8 books, and kind of gets bogged down in the last few books. But Tooth and Claw is a fun, lighter read. Just to clarify, Temeraire is

My response exactly. Who has firsthand knowledge except the abuser and the child? It’s so rare that anything is witnessed by anyone else. The whole point of these laws is that any child that reaches out to anyone about abuse in their lives needs to be taken seriously and it needs to be investigated.
