I think the fact that he doesn't have a history of strongly-voiced political views works in his favor. Jon Stewart wasn't an especially political comedian when he took over TDS. He really grew into his role as a political commentator, and I think that's a big part of what gave him credibility. If you put somebody…
I think the Daily Show will be OK, *if* they manage to find a new host that really fits with the format. That's a pretty big if, obviously. I feel like Paul F. Tompkins might be really good at hosting TDS.
This does NOT bode well for my record label's upcoming release "Holland Notes", a compilation of avant garde Dutch free-jazz.
I enjoyed this. I look forward to future pickings and choosings.
This show is like a bizarro-world Blue Bloods.
It's like a reverse "Tucker Carlson", but without the lube.
Just watched the pilot. I was counting on this show being howling awful. Instead it's just generically crappy. Strangely disappointing.
"What are your qualifications?"
If this show wanted a good review from AVClub, the pilot would have consisted of 45 minutes of Adam Driver jerking off into Lena Dunham's face.
They don't understand how interpersonal relationships work *period*. Which is why, for them, it seems "logical" to assume that any interpersonal relationships between professionals in a particular industry is evidence of a grand conspiracy against them.
I was hoping to see female leads more in the vein of Maria Bello or Regina King.
It's strange how, in an industry where huge corporate game houses spend ungodly amounts of money selling their wares to the game press, the only ethical issues you've been able to identify involve a lone indie female developer, and those people who defended her or allegedly had a personal relationship with her. It's…
Greyson and Fish were dragged in all this because of an alleged connection to a particular woman, as described in a tirade by the angry ex-boyfriend of that particular woman. You remember, the same tirade that began all this? The attack on them was a corollary to the general attack on a female game developer. But…
This show is a take on popular British panel shows (such as QI, Mock the Week, Nevermind the Buzzcocks). But whereas the British panel shows totally deemphasize the scoring, someone decided that Americans need to be constantly aware of who is "winning" at any given moment. Hence, the need to spend a third of the show…
We talking about lunch, man. Not the game, not the game. We sitting in here, and they're supposed to be the franchise player, and we in here talking about lunch. We talking about lunch, man. How silly is that?
I quite enjoyed the british series. I think it found the right tone for an adaptation of the novels… sort of an ambient pathetic absurdity.
They could have made it about Sexy Teenage Constantine and his Sexy Adventures with Sexy Teen Demons and sold it to the CW, so… you know, could have been worse.
Unfortunately, I must agree with this review. The group has a great sound, but there's just not much substance to their songs. However, I must point out that the two gentlemen in the video for "The Heat" are NOT rollerblading! They are dancing on old school quad skates, you rollerdummy. :(
