Happened to me twice, but I’ve seen people get through it with no problems, so I guess I just have to jump in again. Bleh.

As much as I’d love them to return to games in the vein of IX, I’m more excited for what they showed here than any FF in the past 20 years. It looks way more like FF Tactics than any of the mainline games, while also clearly being heavily inspired by Game of Thrones - the combination is pitch perfect.

I never said it changed it, I just think exploring it detracts from the impact of the epilogue.

Personally my favourite thing about FF7 was the ending and epilogue, where we cut from Aerith’s Holy to 500 years later, when humanity has long since returned to the lifestream but nature and the planet have healed. It’s emotional and strong precisely because the time after Meteor is left to your imagination. Anything

I hope when it comes to PlayStation the cross-save will backdate trophies, I don’t want to have to catch Scyllascions again!

Holy shit that looked incredible! They somehow retained the look of the anime really faithfully despite the wholesale style switch.

Why do you find crushing bugs stimulating? Take them outside you weirdo

I can kind of see his point. I much prefer 3rd person, it feels more dynamic to me, but if it’s VR then the first person immersion should be cool - and if 3rd person is an option, players in first person would have a massive disadvantage in terms of situational awareness.

This is more or less what I was expecting when they announced Part II. The first game was a relatively simple story that took its power from a slow-burn growing relationship and the suggestion of an ambiguous future. Any follow up using those same characters would disappoint by design - answering the question of what

It’s absolutely criminal that the Starfighter Assault mode doesn’t have more maps. Criterion made a hidden masterpiece there.

I read here often, but I don’t usually post because my opinions are more or less irrelevant in this arena. This seemed worthwhile to say, although you’re obviously free to disagree:

Haha the interview with Damia is fantastic, Quinns’ avatar looks even more bashful than he is IRL

I’m not sure I understand the difference he’s attempting to explain in his quote - is he maybe saying that he pictured the embroidery as intricate designs, as opposed to big triangles? That would be a cool look!

This has been one of my favourite songs since I was a kid. The whole album is essential to me really.

Hey, that was a needlessly hostile response. I’m fully aware of the creative team behind the project, and I chose to speak about Nomura’s predilections in particular. Look at the terrible ending to XIII-3 or whatever if you want to see why Toriyama sucks even worse, etc etc

This is exactly how I feel, the game could have had things play out differently and it would have been fine. Ideal, in fact - I’m fully behind that. The ghosts however just serve as a cowardly metaphor to pre-emptively attack dissenting voices, not to mention they screw with the pacing and make the party feel like

Exactly - Nomura falls into that same creative trap over and over, he can’t help but compromise the setting and tone to pursue some unnecessary flashy meta wankery. All of his projects for more than ten years now undermine themselves by losing sight of the main plot in favour of chasing some half-baked, ham-handed,

The boss with the three ghosts is Kadaj, Loz and Yazoo from that stupid movie, they have the same weapons, summon Bahamut, and their assess text describes them as ghosts from a future that no longer exists.

You’ve got years before the next part comes out, there’s literally no reason not to just play the original now and the problem goes away entirely.
