More great bits:
* Bronze Tiger vs. Ravan, Round 1.
* Boomerang ruthlessly disposing of s super-terrorist on the Squad's first mission and mocking him in a sickening display.
* "We'll raise your social conscience later, Boomerbutt. With an ax, if necessary."
* The fact that everyone calls Boomerang "Boomerbutt" for

Planetary #27.

Bendis just hasn't met his Matthew Vaughn yet. And his comics are basically neo-noirs with frankly limited visual sensibilities not the high-concept "twisted nostalgia" stuff Millar specializes in.

Not least because a) they never actually do hook up and b) it ends with here realizing how horribly screwed up he is and how compromised she is, and then getting a job somewhere else.

That's basically Owlman's origin story as Batman's evil mirror-world counterpart.

Just whisper the following incantation: "Chapter 27; Highway; Heath Ledger."

The comics version has a death wish. And has no problem shooting women.

I feel the same way about the comments section at TVByTheNumbers.

"OK, so first, we introduce Superboy-Prime. Then, some arms get ripped off…."

There's a great episode of the animated Tick series where the villain is the Ottoman Empress, who controls furniture. "I love furniture. As a child, the household furniture were my only friends. I thought I was a chair until I was eight years old!"

The worst part is, by all accounts we're not getting Deadshot in the movie, but rather Will Smith Action Protagonist #543.

*golf clap*

Low self-esteem.

Though the Netflix shows have been more like what you're saying about the DCU.

Well, and Loki. And, uhm….Batroc?

Very. very much so. It's way ahead of its time, especially the couple of arcs around the middle of the run that dumped the costumes. The main thing that dates it is the number of Cold War plots, but the election storyline more than makes up for it.

The New 52 has not been kind to the Squad, has it?

I hope it has the deep and moving story of his previous masterpiece, 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand.

Top Ten and some issues of Astro City are what you want.

Serous question: why do older people like mystery shows so much?
