You glorious bastard. I love this song, the way it just keeps building and building but doesn't really sound like it has a chorus.
Here's another good one from Sunset Rubdown.

Any day that involves getting a buzz on within an hour of waking up couldn't possibly turn out badly, right?
I always try to remember the words of the great Al Swearengen:
"Announcing your plans is a good way to hear God laugh."
Broadway-caliber theater performances always have a strong impact on me. I've seen several, none that were actually on Broadway, but touring shows that are more-or-less the same quality.
Obviously I'm too young to have seen this performance in person, but this is one of my favorite songs from any musical, and it gives…
Killer Live Shows DUAN
What, in your opinion, is the best live spectacle? It could be a band, theater performance such as a play, etc. Anything goes.
Thee Oh Sees have (or had, I guess) one of the most energetic live shows around.
I wasn't able to get shitty-drunk today, so I hope all you revelers will drink one for me. Happy St. Patrick's day, folks.
Oh, I'm sure he's completely serious. There is a poster I saw where the artist deconstructed Rubies, and graphed out the content of the lyrics. The most repeated word on the album is "La", which is in just about every song, being chanted in place of actual words. I can totally believe he just chooses words based on…
Dan Bejar is the master of unusual, cryptic lyrics. See also: anything by his band Destroyer. Despite (or maybe because of) his interesting word choices, their album Rubies is among my favorites.
As a native Iowan I identify as a Hawkeye, but I've just got to say, how 'bout them Cyclones?
Happy Sunday, people.
I like it the way it is, because as it is now DUAN is different for everybody, whether it's sharing music, asking a question, sharing stories, commenting on a game, etc. At the same time, I realize that this may be the exact reason you guys would want to do away with it.
Have a good one, folks.
Sticking to the Jazz theme, here's my submission. Love the second Eddie Harris solo around 3:20.
Well Chicago used to be the center of the meat packing industry in the United States, so it makes sense that they would have good steaks.
Ok, us Iowans do love a good loose meat hamburger, but the fact that our meat wasn't Pork is pretty damn inaccurate in the hayseed's eyes.
I too arrived terribly late to the smartphone party. I just got one about a month ago, and I've adjusted, but those first few days I likened me trying to operate it like watching a monkey try to screw a doorknob. Hang in there.
It's just one of those Newsom days. Have a good evening, folks.
It might seem kind of obvious but, like I imagine a lot of people, I was turned on to this band from their song "Straight Up and Down" being the intro to Boardwalk Empire. I really dig this track, and I subsequently went and downloaded their entire discography.
I'm so fucking sick of this endless winter. This snow's got me feeling kind of blue...
Oh damn. I love it.
Plus, there was probably a good chance of seeing him fight somebody on any given day.
