Have a good night, fellas.

I've seen Wilco live a few times, and Nels Cline continues to amaze me.
One of the shows I was at, they were serving alcohol. Near the end of Wilco's set, a fight broke out down front and a woman was knocked down and trampled on. As soon as Nels saw a commotion break out, he takes off his guitar, walks up to the front…
When I was in probably 4th or 5th grade I really started to get into classic rock, and EVH, and "Eruption" in particular, was one of the first things I remember hearing and knowing that the person playing it was truly great. Around that time, in Art class, we made paper-mache masks and I painted mine to look like…
Great choice. I heard Santana say once in some interview that during this whole performance he was tripping so hard that his guitar neck turned into a snake, and he was trying to keep the snake under control through his playing.
This one also has the bonus of featuring one of the best drum solos I have ever heard,…
Surprised it took this long for Jimmy, Jeff or Stevie to make an appearance. I particularly like the SRV video because it was just a soundcheck. Amazes me that someone could be that good while basically just messing around, plus the video comment mentions how it was morning and he had just woken up. Remarkable.
I had been listening to Duane for awhile before I realized how much session work he did for other artists. It amazed me when I found out he does the slide parts on Derrick and the Dominos' "Layla", including his "birdcall" at the very end of the song.
If I had posted a fourth video, it was going to be the "At Fillmore East" version of Mountain Jam or Blue Sky. So glad you posted this. Duane Allman is certainly in my top 5 favorite guitarists.
For my money Jack White is one of the greatest guitarists of this generation. I've loved everything he's done since TWS broke big.
Never heard this before. This is absolutely spectacular, thank you for sharing this.
I'm glad you mentioned this, their rendition of "I'll See You In My Dreams" was partly what inspired me to post this tonight. I love Knopfler on his own merits, and I have been listening to Chet's version of "The Entertainer" a lot recently, so I decided to post them separately to highlight my favorites for each. I'm…
Good choice. He was a very skilled guitarist. Had his life not been cut so short I think more people would have had the chance to realize that.
The great Mark Knopfler. This is a great track, but it's pretty long, so skip to around 9:30 to hear the best part.
Alvin Lee might be one of the most underrated guitarists in history as far as I'm concerned. This version is pretty sloppy, but that's part of its charm for me.
Favorite Guitarists DUAN
I'll start off with a few I particularly like. This first one isn't overly complicated, but Chet is a legend, and this song goes very nicely with his fingerpicking style.
Very well done man, some really funny stuff there. I've acted on stage before, but the thought of doing stand-up absolutely terrifies me. I have tremendous respect for anyone that can pull it off, and judging by the audiences enthusiasm, you absolutely can.
I said this yesterday on the Gawker post, but it bears repeating: he had such incredible range. If you look at the huge differences between every character he played, it is truly astounding. He could play an intimidating brute just as easily as he could play a timid weakling. He was just as adept at playing a…
I've dismissed several replies from irate Seattle burner accounts not because I don't welcome a healthy and constructive debate, but because most of them were making presumtions on my sexuality and the sexual promiscuity of my mother. I didn't want this place to turn into a Gawker-esque "attack of the burners",…
Well hot dog, turns out my Hawkeyes coined the term. I was never aware of that before.
