Unless you buy VW. They switched to a timing chain on their 2.0T and owners have been suffering chain tensioner failures.
Adding to the list of chains to avoid 05.5-06 (?) VW 2.5 L engines. 90,000 miles, timing chain stretch.
Timing chain guides wear out and chains stretch out. If you don't know this and think you're immune from servicing the timing chain, it's going to break eventually and you'll be in the same situation.
