You’re right, the XBox One does already have 8-cores; I totally forgot about that. With increased power all-around I’m sure it can do 4k @ 30FPS fairly easily, but I wouldn’t hold my breath for 60 outside of games that are relatively simplistic graphically.

If you care about graphics, framerate, expandability, and utility, then yes. The only thing you’ll be missing out on are console exclusives (of which there are very few) and the extreme ease of use that a console can offer.
