The new AWD system from BMW for M cars seems very promising - excited to test it out. If AWD + manual transmission, which I doubt they’ll offer, then I’ll be excited.

The S55 absolutely has a traction problem - and supposedly it’s worse in the early cars, though I haven’t seen any actual reasons WHY that would be. Nonetheless on summer tires in warm weather it’s got decent traction - but that’s not 6 months of the year here. Bear in mind the S55 makes the same torque from ~1400rpms…
I’ve spent the last 4.5 years and 61.5k miles daily driving a 2015 m3 year round - 6 speed manual, stripper spec car weighing 3,450 pounds, and snow tires in the winter. Best, most reliable vehicle I’ve ever owned too.
I’m very skeptical the “engine was replaced twice.”
Disclosure: I love Subaru for being small and scrappy and finding a niche and building the hell out of it. Alot of Subarus in my extended family and a few in my past.
I need you all to understand something: This driver just improved those roads. They are smoother today due to his courageous sacrifice.
I bet a good marketing team could turn this to their advantage as an advertisement for the Ultimate Driving Machine.
I own a 2015 m3, bought new, 60k miles. Best car I’ve ever owned.

Andrew: Let me tell you a story. Once upon a time I was a young lad who came in to a tidy sum of money - about $25k. I convinced myself that NOW (2013) was the time to buy a badass all weather/light off-roading rig that did it all via german engineering.
Yes, when I said that a ring weight of 6 grams would be about 4.5 grams of gold that means I accounted for a 18K gold ring’s actual gold content.
Just for the sake of educating Kristen:
I’m a BMW guy and there are plenty of vehicles i’d say watch out for....this is a unicorn though if you want a certain combination of attributes.
My overlanding is basically driving a mile on deep, soft delaware beach sand....
David, this review left me feeling lukewarm towards the Gladiator.
If you drain your oil while hot, and the car isn’t a high mileage sludge monster, there is nothing sitting in the bottom of the sump that you won’t suck out. It’ll be suspended in the oil.
As a fellow BMW owner, I can promise you there’s a dipstick there....
So I voted CP but I’ve got to weigh in as a BMW guy....
I want to know:
