I’m very surprised he didn’t do an acidity test. Most of the tests are meh, but one of the most important traits of oil is it’s ability to resist acidification (commonly observed through it’s Total Base Number or TBN).
Also, you drive a toyota tacoma. You should consider whether that has anything to do with it.
A viscosity rating is a range, and each range is quite sizeable.
