I got a PS5 the day after preorders went up, and the majority of friends who want a PS5 have them. I haven’t been able to get a GPU and don't know anyone who has that paid MSRP for one. Cards seem much harder to get than consoles, anecdotally.

While I’m glad I got (and have) a PS5, I generally agree with this. There’s nothing that is an absolute must have on the system yet, though as someone who never upgraded to a PS4 Pro, it’s been nice to have something that performs better.

It’s really weird that Outriders isn’t a live service game, yet continually runs into issues that you would normally only associate with live service titles.

Yeah, like I said, it feels really mean spirited and needlessly punitive. Especially in light of the multitudes of players requesting mid-game saves.

This latest patch also removed the ability to fully heal oneself onboard the ship as often as needed during the first biome.

Basically everyone is asking for a quick save, not a constantly accessible list of past save files. It's about being able to take a break, not about save scumming. (Though honestly, if people want to save scum in a single player game I don't know why anyone cares...)

This isn’t an artistic choice, but a flat out omission. If they are letting you essentially “pause” the game by suspending the console, it’s no different than allowing a “pause” when the console is turned off or if the game is updating.

This reminds me of the early demos for Dead Space back in the day, originally there was no way to pause the game (all the option menus were in the real time menus) but due to the negative reception they added a simply pause menu for settings and so you could stop to take a piss even if there wasn’t a save point around.

Which is largely why I echew looter shooters. It’s really just the product of being an adult gamer, as I require that games respect my time. At any time that they demand regular upkeep, then I’m already out.

I haven’t played this yet, but I always bristle at big nerfs in major patches.  If something is “too powerful” and people are having fun with it, the solution should be to buff other under-performing areas, not just end people’s fun because it’s easier.
