@jishi9: Because it's hard to get the flash to burst that fast without melting it, and you want to take the photo with flash. When you take a photo in the dark with flash, the flash is what freezes the action, and the flash duration is much shorter than the fastest shutter speed on the camera.

I tried one of these and I think I got it to scan once out of 6 tries, nice concept, but it's not reliable.
