Given that Trump hosted the Log Cabin Republicans at Mar-a-Lago last December, an event at which he claimed “We are fighting for the gay community, and we are fighting and fighting hard,” I really want someone to ask him his opinion on this shooting. Either he’s going to waffle on it and reveal himself as a fake ally…
This is an awful tragedy caused by stupidity, bigotry and gun culture.
He ended his post by saying, “let’s not let Lauri’s tragic death be in vain.”
Except for The Flash, despite the fact that calling it anything other than a massive flop would be overstating how successful it was.
So far, yes, but none of the live action remakes since The Lion King has rung up big box office numbers. It’s only a matter of time before one of them outright bombs, and we might have already reached the stage where “mildly profitable” is more common than “box office smash”.
Trolling gets clicks and engagement, baby!
the point is that the critics *aren’t* just the perpetually aggrieved anti-woke police.
Of course, but I’m guessing that less than a quarter of their movie and TV output over the past five years has been original, as opposed to remakes, adaptations, sequels, or expansions of already-known IP.
I’d be more inclined to watch this if Disney actually titled the film in such a manner as a signal of their intentions to not be beholden to traditions and just have fun with the story.
I mean, that’s what the first paragraph is implying, but I don’t see any criticisms in the rest of the story that are clearly coming from a left-of-center perspective. I suspect this will never get out of the greys, but...
But that would mean taking a chance on something new, rather than banking on recognizable, beloved IP. What, you think Disney has the cash flow to take risks like that?
I think the problem is less “oh this thing isn’t going to be carbon copy of the original” and more “this looks like dogshit made by people with unoriginal and/or terrible ideas”.
We have streaming services from household cleaners now?
But you don’t understand, they’re undermining the whole point of the story! The queen being driven mad with jealousy, the protagonist being betrayed by her own flesh and blood and then winning over the huntsman and the miners with her innocence and kindness, true live triumphing over even death — all insignificant…
I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if part of the reasoning for reneging on the planned second seasons is to attempt to sway public opinion. “We really want to provide you with the shows you love, honestly, but these unreasonable writers and actors are making it impossible with their ridiculous demands. Blame them, not…
I think at that time, you’d find more people in Hollywood defending (or at least sorta-defending) Polanski than calling for him to be shunned and/or imprisoned.
Whoever gives the highest portion of their income to charity and other good works should be, really. It never works out that way, though.
