This story just goes to prove what I recently figured out about Republicans - they all want us to go back to the 50s, but some of them want the 1950s and others want the 1850s.

It would help accountability a lot, and allow you to impose tighter standards on police recruitment and training. It would also reduce the effects of day-to-day racism, in the form of many small police forces making their budgets in the form of tickets and fines disproportionately aimed at poorer non-white folks.

So a man gets slapped and the police arrest and hold his wife for 8 hours, only releasing her so she can breast feed their 6 month old baby, but a women gets raped and cops do........... nothing.

If incompetent police are going to rethink the profession, that’s a win for everyone!
