I would make a joke but the last time I commented all the snowflakes came out.

And for laid-back cruising music, just about anything by Steely Dan hits the spot for me.  And if it’s dark, “Midnight Rider” by the Allman Bros. works perfectly.

For an individual song, I’m gonna take the easy way out and pick “Red Barchetta” by Rush. For an entire album - Metallica’s Master of Puppets.  They don’t call it speed metal for nothing!

To me, it’s hard to beat “Running Down a Dream” by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.  There are dozens (maybe hundreds) of other great songs (almost anything by ZZTop or Van Halen for example), but if I am thinking of a driving song, this comes to the top of the list.
