Has nothing to do with the city. In fact, the city’s citation just ended up being a great way for me to create a successful (and controversial series) of stories about government overreach (or resident selfishness—you decide!).
It’s my experience that there’s only one reason a single guy suddenly starts cleaning up his act. So what’s her name?
I can say we are collectively proud of you, but the journey was just as entertaining for us.
The way I’ve been living isn’t sustainable, let’s be real.
Five years of great fun, though! Definitely lived the dream buying every car I ever wanted (I know, I have cheap taste), road-tripping, wrenching, etc etc.
But I’m gonna reel it in just a bit.
It is all about a tax revenue stream.
Yup...every year, I get the privilege of paying the state money to tell them that the same car I have had the last 26 years, is in fact...still my car. Still have crappy roads and stuff, so I doubt the money is going towards that.
We have similar laws in the US. You get one fine for expired tags because you broke one law. There is no law against having a vehicle stored on your property with expired tags. The registration only enables you to legally drive the vehicle on the road.
I did something similar in NY with trailer, which I only used at most once a month. Nobody even knew how to inspect it, so they just gave me a sticker that goes inside the windshield (on a trailer??) plus state slapped expensive registration renewal. I just registered trailer, like all truckers do... in Maine
I started doing a similar thing with the requirement to get an annual inspection, on a fucking travel trailer, in my state. I would waste a Saturday morning, do a 50 mile round trip to the RV dealer, who had official inspection mechanics, then spend an hour of shop time while they checked tail lights, the breakaway…
Went under? Huh, wonder where my paychecks really came from for 7.5 years :)
I’m sure Nissan said it was Nox funny.
I’m sure much laughter ensued.
I had a friend who had one of those. Specifically, it was early-’80s era Honda Civic hatchback (probably like an ‘84 gen-3, IIRC). Anyways, his legs were non-functional so everything was hand-driven. Pretty cool setup and I always found his driving to be perfectly fine. However, one day I went for a ride with him and…
Your last line reminds me of something my Dad always used to tell my Mom when he was doing electrical work at the house (during the 20 years of my life he was alive he gutted and remodeled 2 different houses, including putting new panels in each)
So, you’re admitting you were in on the theft, and provided sonic smokescreen to cover the sound of it taking place!
Are all BMW engines a monumental piles of unreliable garbage?
The 1 time I couldn't change my oil, I took my 96 Riviera to walmart. I was kind enough to put the oil I wanted in my car on the counter. Went & screwed around for a few minutes. When I went & looked in to the service bay, gotdamnit if they weren't putting some completely different oil in my car...I'm not going to…
Condescending? I was just pointing out that bad things are happening out there. People who are mechanically savvy can avoid the problems by doing the work themselves (as I have for 35 years now). And, as noted, you can let others do the work for you and take common sense steps to minimize the risk. If you don't like…
There are a few cardinal rules when buying a car to resell: Don't buy one with potentially expensive mechanical…
