As intoxicating as these cars can be, I’ve known multiple owners who have had catastrophic failures of key components in A4s and S4s. I’d never buy one for 20 large and anything cheaper would be super old and even more risky. 

The first car I bought with a real salary out of college was the nephew to this — The Contour SVT. Black. Dammit, I loved that car even though its 200 hp is laughable today and it was unreliable.

I have a brother-in-law who has had one about five years and a sister-in-law (personal trainer who wouldn’t go off-roading on a bet) who just bought a 2019. The only thing I like about them is that they still have the power rear window. So cool.
