My ex-girlfriend and I found and bought a first-gen Saturn Vue with the 2.2 and a manual, and it was great. She’s got a tinge of redneckiness, as she called it her dream car for a while. 😆

I’ve never seen these in my life. I have to say they fit right in with this oddball Versa that’s been drug through an autozone trinkets aisle.
Oh YEAAAAAAAAA!!
The 2006/gen1 Mazda 6 rolled all four windows down when the unlock button was held on the key fob. Easily my most favorite supplemental accessory, especially in summertime.
I have no clue what you’re talking about. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to crawl back under my small hoopty’s hood for a few more hours.
I long for the days of widebody domestic flights! I’d jump to see some SPs crowding the skies!
You say all of that like it’s supposed to trivialize pets. Sounds infinitely better than human spawn!
My commute is about 150 miles round trip, from the Central Valley into the East Bay Area, California. At least in this area, these supercommutes are growing more popular, so I’m surprised these exurbian commutes aren’t being considered for range targets.
Been momentarily airborne several times, usually in subcompact cars with the tachometer pegged near redline. Can confirm, was glorious.
I currently drive a 2011 Mazda2, and previously drove a 2006 Mazda6, and really enjoy what Mazda’s doing these days. I prefer the previous-gen 3 to the new one, but think they’re making some (not all, I admit) great decisions these days. That said, I don’t see what the point of the CX-3 is anymore. That CX-30 looks…
I just bought a 2009 (a ten-year old truck!), and managed to avoid the Toyota Tax. Comparable trucks are going for shockingly high amounts, considering their age! Couldn’t believe it.
If I (or a relative) had the foresight to pick up something similar to this to teach me how to wrench, it would have been fantastic. For that scenario, NP and a tip of the hat. As I currently can only do basic wrenching, and would have to drop sizable bills to a mechanic to get the timing belt and clutch done, it…
All I know, is that I want that Benz.
I am a fan May’s extra-vehicular shows, as I have many similar interests and appreciate his mellow, if stereotypically British, enthusiasm. I’m excited for this new show, and now I think I’ll drudge up some old Man Lab episodes. Good evening.
I am really bummed I’ve not been to a Jalopnik meetup or anything of the sort. Living out west (Nor-, not SoCal), and forever being an outside-looking-in Jalop, I never felt strongly enough to truly engage with the staff and community here.
Gorgeous color. I’d probably scrape $5k together for a clean-titled version (no research done, that’s just my gut offer price), but closer to $6k for a salvage title? Can’t do it. Great looking car, but too questionable for my blood. CP.
Good lord. 3-speed automatic and 135 horsepower from a 3.1, just 30 years ago. If anything, this is an excellent testimony to the advancements that have been made in automotive technology in a relatively short lifespan.
Mine is the exact same, but sitting at 106,000 right now. Wish it had even 20 more horsepower, then it would be stellar. But then I love small, slow cars.
A cursory search showed a handful for $3-5k more, with similar miles and lacking any rebuilding of any sort. That’s a lot of cash, but for a car like this I would have to hold out. So many more things for $24k I’d be more comfortable buying.
Oh, man, I am *not* an expert on cars anymore. But absolutely, my answer would be Miata. RF or soft-top club model. That’s essentially the short-list.
