On a wing and a prayer.

The C6 was a slippery car. Much more so than the C7. All those aero bits that provide downforce do so by interrupting airflow across the body. It takes more power to produce the same top speed when you start introducing those items. The track benefits are large however. No previous corvette got heavier as it went

Lots of people do it. Not all of course, there are many that just like to race. It does happen though. When you've got people spending the cost of a Lamborghini just to mod the Lamborghini, plus shop sponsorship and bragging rights on the line, you better believe there's going to be some competition involved in

Ego, pure and simple. The big boys that show up are pretty much the top 1% of cars in the country. They don't honestly have a lot to prove. But you get the guys out there with their intake/exhaust mustangs and camaros that really want to join in the fun. They're running around during the day trying to race

This is true. Eventually, somebody will screw up and something bad is going to happen. When you're doing highway pulls that start in triple digits, things happen fast. With that said, the guys depicted in this video at least have the sense to do this during the wee hours when innocent bystanders are generally not

This would have been during Tx2k14 held in early March. The video is from 1320 Video who compiles tales from this and other events each year. My understanding is that there's so much activity going on during this event that police will turn their head the other way for people that aren't out plowing through traffic

I hear ya, I've had two C6 coupes and a C6z. Most of the 427 verts got picked up by old guys that wanted to put them in bubbles thinking they were going to be worth more some day. I think this new convertible Z06 throws a pretty big wrench in that plan.

You should read CorvetteForums. There's been demand for this since the Z06 returned in 2001. The target demographic of Corvette owners are largely elderly male. Many of them want the big dog car, but don't care to put it on track or really do anything but drive it to an all corvette show and sit the the shade.

Hey, why stop at completely copying the Vengeance Camaro? Might as well mess with the tires too!

Reread my statement. I never advocated going without the technology. I simply said we don't "need" it. Additionally, if you're going somewhere you're unfamiliar with, you should be prepared for that and possible have a map or directions with you. A little bit of pre-planning helps you and everyone else on the road.

I agree with you on nobody would use it, because of the points you make in #2 of your post.

Excellent point and I'll add to that, they have the fortunate of having a near year-round car season! Not so lucky here in Colorado!

I'm all for safety and making the vehicles we drive and the roads we drive them on as safe as possible. I think what a lot of people forget is that no matter how you spin it, you're still barreling down a freeway with hundreds of other cars in what amounts to a steel box. There is an inherent risk there that will

Come to Colorado. We have awesome roads that hardly anyone knows about! Unfortunately, a few of them were recently washed out :(

My Wife's '11 tC is atrocious. For something rated to have 180 hp it's downright gutless. Probably not the slowest though.

I saw one at Mile High Nationals at the Mopar tent years ago. it had orders of magnitude more presence IRL than any picture does it justice.

Street sign on the off-ram read Charles Lemoyne. I'm getting Canada.

As a fellow classic Firebird owner, this makes me moist.

Just then, my wallet preemptively struck me in the face. No!!

The base stingray has an MSRP of $51,995.00 The Z51 option is $2,800.00. That gives you the car in question below $55,000. The magnetic selective ride control is a $1,750.00 option according to the early pricing press releases. The videos I'm seeing are saying it's part of the Z51 option though. So, that's hard
