I’m thinking if you’re got to dredge back 10-15-30 years to find something ‘offensive’, the person you’re doing the deep dive on learned better... but that’s not an option in today’s climate. People determined to find offense don’t give a damn if what they find was decades back - to them it just happened.

It was somewhat blurry and oddly dim.  I’m surprised it wasn’t sharper.

Funny how ‘Safe’ in the ‘80s became ‘Deathtrap’ in the ‘90s.

That was my method, lol.

Yep. Eventually. Well over budget, well under capacity, well beyond the target dates.

Same. I got to a point where I couldn’t complete a quest because my build simply wasn’t overpowered enough to survive the final scenario solo. With two people it would have been easy - but I couldn’t manage by myself. After going through it roughly twenty times I just resigned myself to not finishing it, and moved on

It’s all about the locality.  CA’s locked down.  Other states will vary, depending on their response.

At about a thousand hours now - every so often I just change focus on what I’m doing, whether it’s base-building, clearing out ghost freighters, exploring planets, crafting, whatever.

Can’t collide with something when it’s been shredded.  Might get a bit... messy... if you’re not careful.

It was... very colorful. The physics and engineering, however... ah, what the hell. It’s an alternative universe and the rules just don’t apply. As SF/Fantasy, it’s enjoyable on a number of levels, and the cinematography is amazing.

I’d only use it if I have no choice - I’m on the outskirts of a city, but our rapid transit is shit, which depresses the revenue, which leads to cuts, which leads to less revenue, which means something’s got to be cut to maintain minimal standards...  So what’s a 45 minute bad commute can take up to an hour and a

Locally the traffic’s picked up considerably, and it’s like about 20% have lost a lot of their driving ability. Lots of dumb-ass moves. (Seriously, would it kill you (and not me) to NOT wait until the very last 100 feet to try to get over 3 lanes so you can make a turn?)

Completist, eh?  Gotta catch them ALL.  ;)

Can’t think like that these days. One must always be looking for the next new offensive thing, next new indication of racism, next new derogatory signal for... well, anything. If you’re not offended by SOMETHING or SOMEONE enough to burn down or socially destroy whatever it is that offends you, it’s because you’re not

You have to teach racism early. You have to instill it at a young age that there’s people with different skin or beliefs, otherwise your children will call those people ‘Friends’ and not pay attention to those things.

That’s a constant.  “I think X shouldn’t exist!” - but they never, EVER seem to think about the ‘unexpected consequences’ of that lack.

Unintended consequences. If you don’t think through and do EVERYTHING you can to frestall them, you’re going to get them.

The concept of ‘unexpected consequences’ is totally unknown in some circles. After all, don’t ‘good intentions’ ALWAYS equate to ‘good results’ and forestall ‘unexpected results’?

So you immediately discard it because the site it’s from doesn’t fit your preconceptions? Wow, how open-minded. Got that cerebellum of yours locked down tight, don’t you? Ever open it up to dust it out, or do you figure that gives you extra protection against non-socially approved ideas?

Or, you know, the models were jacked up... and the conditions that applied to NYC (crowding, more crowding, shortening the trains and not sanitizing them and shovelling covid patients into otherwise non-infected nursing homes) possibly shouldn’t have been seen as applicable nationwide?
