Wouldn’t it be glorious for us to debate the actual issues while we watch the GOP tear itself limb-from-limb? We are the serious party, debating actual issues.

This is the most bizarre and out of touch news story this entire cycle. Yes, political interns work for experience not salaries. Yes, it’s why the interns are often political legacies. But NOOOOOOOOO, nope, Nooonah, nah, to Clinton paying them being any change to the process. It means she now has to account for this…
I earn 70k a year and I’m fully aware if I want to work on the next campaign cycle i’ll be looking at 0-30k. It is what it is. It sucks, but if you believe in the cause, you will do it.
I think it’s a little unfair to judge their marriage. A lot of couples survive infidelity and can even come back stronger from it. Not saying that they have or haven’t, but it’s impossible to know what happens in someone elses marriage, and I don’t think it’s right that we judge her as a politician based on her…
The Obama campaign structure was exactly like this, and we had ADULTS in Campaign Fellow positions. Full-fledged adults, many with other jobs, but all that wanted to be more than the standard volunteer who calls the numbers you give them, holds the sign at the rally, or registers that rando to vote. They want to…
Not sure this is a step forward for democracy. Campaign workers, interns etc. usually have only their expenses reimbursed and the reference as "payment". If politicians now have to pay interns to follow Clinton's lead that means needing to raise even more money and being beholden to more donors.
Unless you’re interning on Wall Street, interns hardly get paid anywhere. That’s the whole purpose of being an intern as opposed to a paid employee.
Exhausting full-day day camp FOR THE WIN! WeePiglet goes to theater camp from 8A-5P, 5 days a week. She is wrecked when I pick her up and usually falls asleep in the car on the way home. By the time she’s had dinner and a shower, she’s ready for bed. No screens, hurrah!
It’s goddamned CRAZY-MAKING. I write Rom-Com, and every time I find myself on any of the bestseller lists or Hot New Releases, there’s always a shit-ton of stepbrother porn (to say nothing of all the shifters and billionaires) hogging all the top spots. This is a real issue at Amazon, to be honest. I don’t mind…
there’s a lot going on in this thread and idk where everyone stands since kinja is convoluted to go through, and while i don’t considering hildawg particularly progressive, i agree that compromise is an important progressive ideal that most will agree to.
I wonder how little of a response you need in order to continue replying?
I am involved. Forgive me if I don't tell anonymous internet creeps exactly what capacity in which I am involved.
But Sanders isn't electable, not in a general election. If you think tearing down Hilary will have the effect of getting Sanders into the White House, well, you've got a big surprise coming. I'm a progressive, but I'm also a pragmatist. Sanders can't win. Hilary can.
i don’t disagree at all- i hope what i said came across more observational than anything else. politics is what it is. plus obama seems to be slowly warming up for what will be a glorious backflip out of office while keeping both middle fingers up the whole time for the last 12 months of his term.
Sure. But for those of us who are having our rights and safety threatened here at home, we have more immediately pressing concerns than the rights and safety of others.
He’s very white and male, and his staff seems to be following suit. He talks a big game about class issues, but I haven’t been impressed by his apparently lack of awareness of how race and sex can factor into a disparity of outcomes. But really, I’m not saying he’s a bad candidate. If he was on the ticket instead of…
Seriously, this is getting ridiculous. Are there candidates out there who are more progressive than Clinton? Of course. Are there candidates out there that are actually electable to a national position that are more progressive than Clinton? No. And even if there were, none of them could get a goddamn thing passed in…
Ok, friend. I'll leave you to your pointless, counterproductive battle to determine exactly which positions and candidates you must support in order to be the One True Progressive. Maybe you can pull a page from the Republicans and start labeling dissenters as PINOs.
Oh hey and let me know when national security is the only issue that exists. You realize some people care about other issues, yeah?
“If X, not progressive” is exactly what a no-true-Scotsman argument looks like. Did you read what I wrote? As I said specifically: Just because...she has some positions that aren’t far left, doesn’t eliminate her progressive cred.
