Personal passholder anecdote: a few years ago I was waiting in line for a corn dog at the truck. There was a woman in front of us who was on the phone, she was apparently unaware that on this particular weekend, it was Disneyland Gay Days, and I overhear her say “...yeah, the park is pretty crowded today, I think I’m Read more

Galaxy's Edge is so good! Ride of the Resistance is the most impressive ride Disney has ever built. Even the food is good!

I’ll admit that there is scant empirical data (e.g. the following link is from 2010), but whenever it comes up, wrestling fans turn up more blue than most folks think. Read more

Critical response for TLJ is at 90% on RT and 84% (“Universal Acclaim” and “Must See”) on Metacritic.

I’m not trying to be dismissive of the segment of the fan base that did not like TLJ. However, I do think that segment of the fan base has an inflated sense of itself.

They turn people away from Rise of the Resistance Read more

Luke is also the least trained Jedi in this era. Even if we accept that ESB significantly compresses time and he was on Dagobah for weeks or months, and even if he’s spent the years since ROTJ training, Cal and Ahsoka spent far more time under the tutelage of a Jedi master. Read more

...seems that Luke training Grogu produces the least interesting narrative threads moving forward. It’s Kylo or....’yeah nevermind’?

Yes, this sums up my feelings. Putting Luke in there was pretty “meh” from me.

I was thinking about this....and Grogu has more training than Luke.

I was letting the credits roll and by chance I saw 'Bib Fortuna' and did a double take.

I’m ok with this being a hot take, but Luke showing up gets a resounding “meh” from me. I don’t really think that character needed to be in this story. I rather liked that this show existed more in the periphery of the Skywalker saga. Read more

Word of advice: don’t go do the Jelly Belly factory tour while stoned, you may come home with like 10lbs of candy.

I would love to know how some of you folks have so much insight into the Lucasfilm creative process that you’ve determined the choices you don’t like are all Kathleen Kennedy’s fault.

Factoid from AZ: Sen. Elect Mark Kelly got ~41k more votes than Biden. The proposition to impose an additional 3.5% tax on earners over $250k received about 800 more votes than Biden. Cannabis legalization crushed the vote totals of Biden and Trump by over 200k votes. Read more

Florida International University does a semi-annual poll of the Cuban-American community. They overwhelmingly vote Republican anyway. It was never a bloc that was really in reach for Democrats regardless of messaging.

Valid! I can see how this easter egg straddles the line between “OOOH, it’s a Star War!” and small universe syndrome. Just for me personally, I was tickled. When R5 rolled on the screen the first thought in my head was “oooh, is it *that* R5?” and then they panned to the ‘bad’ motivator. But you’re not wrong, Read more

So, I am thrifty and bought two refurb Dysons this past year from their Ebay store. I have both the HP01 and the HP02. I think there are newer versions of this unit as well, but of the two, I like the HP02 slightly better. I didn’t know why I needed a wi-fi connected air purifier, but the “auto” function is pretty Read more
