I bet the 4 World Series in the next 5 seasons help take away a little bit of the sting.

TBF, I wouldn’t really be looking to confront someone stupid/drunk enough to throw a full beer can at a player. That person obviously doesn’t have much regard for other humans, and my face is too pretty to get punched.

Can I write an article on why you SHOULDN’T root for the Cubs?

All I want in return is some editing help, and for people to not root for the Cubs.

Fuuuuuck. Did he just clinch Ohio?

Several of those guys had above-average seasons for other franchises earlier in their careers/before major injuries. Most of them are pure garbage.

The NFL OT rule change from a few years ago made ties more common since a first possession FG doesn’t necessarily end the game.

It’s definitely an effort thing. I gave a general personal point of reference with the 8, but that’s not a hard and fast rule at all. Going up hill, ultra-marathons, just generally getting older and more out of shape are all reasons why I may be going slower than 8s and still running. I’m not trying to give a formal

I agree, that’s why I said, “If you’re trying hard, you’re running”

Yes. And if I did it at 20 minute per mile pace, I walked it.

Wrong. If you’re trying hard, you’re running, but there’s a distinct difference in effort and gait between running and jogging. For some people, there isn’t much difference between their top speed and their slowest non-walking speed. Those people can feel free to say they are running. For me, jogging is like anything

I swear my dad told me about an NFL or College team that had deceptive football-looking sleeve patches on their jerseys in the 1970s. Cannot for remember who . .

Right. The only point on mentioning was to point out, “here’s an issue of recent, well-known, very visible racial strife.” The specifics don’t really matter in this context.

During the Great Migration, banks/cities/all the white people in charge worked together to keep blacks from moving into nice neighborhoods. It goes so far as Chicago designing where the freeways go as a barrier between neighborhoods.

I spent a summer in Buffalo. Lived in a very nice suburban neighborhood (Williamsville). The neighbors welcomed me (I’m white, so were most of them). Then one night at a cook out, this one guy starts talking about how Buffalo started going downhill when the “undesirables” started moving in. If that wasn’t plain

I’m relatively new to the Kinja scene/Never read much Gawker media outside of deadspin. This Hamilton Nolan guy has interesting headlines, but his articles are often just pure garbage that really under-deliver on the promising title. I click b/c it seems like something I want to read, only to constantly come away

Yes.

I swear, at my middle school science fair, this kid has some minnows for his experiment, and one of them died (or at least appeared to). My partner decided to use our lantern battery like a defibrillator on the (seemingly) dead fish, and it worked!

God, that would be a fun job.

In exchange for $10,000,000 from Mr. Pickens.
