Her Spanish singing is downright gorgeous, especially since most of her songs are awkwardly translated into English. I saw her in concert for free a few years ago and was fully convinced of her magnificence.

If we’re going to admit that police officers (and people generally) find black individuals more threatening and are therefore more likely to use lethal force against them, part of fighting that problem is to tally all the black lives taken. Not just the ones with the most value for activism.

Wrong. The real potato is Jeremy Renner.

If you don’t believe that there are varying valid interpretation of agency within feminism, I’m not sure what to say. Women of color can be invested in ideas that have been primarily perpetuated by liberal feminism. By no means does that make them or the ideas wrong, but those ideas must be open to critiques that

I suppose we have different definitions of agency. Which I think is an overly-fetishized term in white Liberal Feminism to begin with.

Looking forward to it.

No animosity here! Just a bit of incredulity. Your post was clear that you understood the current legal framework and weren’t arguing against it, but it bears spelling it out when offering a fully-formulated response to your question. Didn’t mean to condescend, if I did.

This woman was groomed for years as a victim of sexual abuse and coercion. Rushing to vilify her for taking part in his other abuses is really gross. What’s to say she didn’t have anything sufficiently dire to fear?

Hiring someone because they have engaged in sexual acts with you or for your pleasure (or under that condition that they do) is quid pro quo. Always. Someone does not already have to be your employee for that to be ethically and legally wrong. Ailes brought her into his massive business empire and coerced her into

“See? That was funny” is my new go-to expression

Yep. He’d do better not to lean too heavily on an old white savior ideology and some clunky Spanish skills. I really like the guy. But I’m not sure it does as much good as white supporters hope it does.

As a Chicanx who teaches in Chicano Studies, I very much understand and appreciate the symbolic import. I didn’t say he shouldn’t have, just that he shouldn’t over rely on it moving forward.

He’s a cutie and had all the dad charm tonight. Standing by my Would. Although Biden is the way cooler uncle.

So, how do we hold police departments accountable for abuse that they allow to go on as standard practice? Going after individual officers seems to do us little good, and doesn’t really address problems like these where procedure is basically expected to be ignored. Could someone who understand these things explain

You’re right, today he has done quite a bit more and used these meetings to be forceful and unequivocal with delegates. I didn’t see him do that Monday night on stage, when his words were guaranteed to reach ten million viewers/voters. Hopefully he keeps being that forceful.

Crying the happiest tears I’ve cried since 2009.

So this group is insignificantly small and we shouldn’t care about their vocal presnece, but also we should be courting them because they are the left and Hillary needs them? Pick one or the other.

The idea that a Hillary supporter can’t do both is asinine. I’ll take part in this election the way I feel is best, and you can do the same.

Yes to all of this. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

This is not 2008. Trump is not McCain. McCain was a reasonable and respected Republican who would’ve been a decent president even if we disagreed with his policies. Obama was a relative unknown quantity with the minimum experience to have a shot (but a beautiful message, and great follow-through in the job) .I held
