Sometimes, a cacodemon is just a cacodemon.

Link's often-overwhelming presence in Mario Kart 8 tells me two things about the current state of the game. First: adding stuff from The Legend of Zelda into Mario Kart was a great idea, and Nintendo should have done so sooner. Second: players are latching onto the new character so zealously right now because Mario

Leo, this is one of my favorite things ever on Kotaku. Thank you.

Yannick, did you see Nintendo updated the Mario Kart TV website to include current stats on character and vehicle usage?

And while we're at it, Western releases of Final Fantasy Explorers and Bravely Second. Please, Square Enix.

Funniest episode yet, by far. xD

SimCity?

I was going to say the same thing about the garage band music.

Am I the only person who gets a little vertigo watching FPS scenes that involve long falls / jumps? Probably one reason I never got much into the genre beyond classic Doom and Duke Nukem.

Magic John sounds like some sort of prequel to Toilet Simulator '15.

It's too bad it became so obscure, because it was sort of Nintendo's answer to Sonic the Hedgehog, just stripped down and free of enemies. It proved the SNES could theoretically do the blazing speed associated with Genesis / Mega Drive titles of the time. Plus it's just a really challenging racing / platforming game!

Sadly, it will never be available on any platform ever again. Nintendo lost a landmark lawsuit to Pixar that forced them to pull the game from shelves. Super NES carts have become quite valuable.

Hilarious and thought-provoking.

I think it's worked out that way, for a couple reasons — I've only owned Nintendo consoles, so I was excited to play series coming to a Nintendo home platform for the first time like Assassin's Creed and Tekken. Also, I am a pretty big fan of the Nintendo first-party games, so I've ended up with almost all of them.

The vast majority of them (I'm the reader in question) are Virtual Console and eShop. There's several hundred digital games available digitally for the system. Strictly speaking, I only own 19 retail disc games.

Yeah, only 19 of my games are actually physical copies. The rest are eShop and Virtual Console. It adds up!!!

THANK YOU re: new games. I'm the big spender on the Wii U side and some are aghast that anyone could spend that much on games... I always buy new when I can, and right at launch. It's the collector in me, I guess. (I also like supporting publishers who create games I actually like and want to play.)

I have to imagine the PC responses would range into the tens of thousands of dollars O_0

It gives me something to do :)

Nope, I didn't include Wii games, of which I have more than 200 and about half have been purchased since I got the Wii U. Big chunk of the price tags is eShop / Virtual Console downloads, and always buying retail discs new instead of used.
