That actually is what really old school dealerships were like. You went to a place that had 1 of each model vehicle, maybe a few more with optional engines. You took a Demo out for a test drive and if you liked it, the dealer would order you one with the options you wanted and the color you wanted. This went away

There are these things called hats that keep most of what you’ve mentioned above from happening.

If you’re driving hours on end, don’t put the top down.

To be fair, I’m sort of trolling you all today. This was just too good not to share.

911 owners have a system like this in which the exhaust catches particles of the tires and converts them into a heinous smell that wafts around the car for hours.

this is a $1000 car, tops. this used car price bubble is complete horse shit.

Yeah, Radwood here I come! Completely irrational NP and I know it. I once belonged to the Yahoo Groups A Body club - lol. To be honest, there are a couple more versions I’d rather have than this one but neither had the 3.8.

If you’re not registering it here, it doesnt need the test.

I’ll agree Idaho is not part of the “rest of the world” but here’s a two door for $6500 with 227K miles and it’s an auto. Who knows whether the lift kit was done right either. I voted NP for the SFO manual.

I’m ok with the asking price. It is a basis for negotiation, but unmolested XJs that are free from rust perforation, or the plight of 3rd, 4th, and 5th owners goes a long way in my book.

I keep seeing articles, but I’ve never actually met someone who hates self-checkout.

I mean think of it this way, WalMart is providing the transportation, cost of that transportation goes up so they charge that cost to the producer.

A compression tester is like $20 at Amazon/Harbor Freight. You can’t write off the original no-start issue to low compression without at least doing that. You never did confirm whether it was a lack of fuel delivery originally. There’s not THAT much to these old Mercs, if you made even a slight effort you could have

Seriously, the proper procedure for fixing this recall is a swift smack to the owner and their keys taken away because they are clearly not fit to own a vehicle like that. Still amazes me literally anyone with a license can buy and drive a 40ft house on the road.

I will buy this car and dress-up like Big Enos Burdette and have my daughter dress-up like little En0s Burdette.

So we force pilots to retire at 60 but we let walking corpses run the government?

At 3900 lbs, it’s still lighter than any of the pony cars on sale today and people seem to gobble them up just fine...

You commenters just can’t get past that “Quick Change” steering wheel can you???

Not only is it “somebody else’s project”, but it’s a car that is mostly only relevant because of the ability to customize and tinker. Doing the work to make it your own is the whole point.

I know a lot of people are going to take issue with the auto-to-manual swap, but please stop before you do.
