I really like this feature, but have you thought about putting it out on Friday afternoon? I would like to be able to figure out what’s going on over the weekend, and Ialso think that there are usually some prelim rounds on Friday night that I might be interested in checking out.

It’s also the worst kind of gambling, like a modern slot machine. You don’t know the odds going in. If I step up to a craps table, I generally know the distribution of how the dice will fall. If I open a loot box, there’s no real way to guess at what I’ll get.

I really don’t like it anywhere. I would prefer that my skill dictate my reward, rather than the clock of some computer somewhere or whatever they use. I actually suspect that this (and the NFL overtime rule) are trying to make the sport more television-friendly. Could you imagine telling Fox, “Yeah, you should air us on Sunday afternoon. We’ll start at three, and will probably end at six, but don’t make any plans.”

I aspire to get to this position in my career, where it doesn’t matter how badly you drop the ball, you’re just going to get a promotion anyway. Unfortunately, I’m not in government, business management, or sports broadcasting, so it looks unlikely.
