Completely agree. I have a relative in a similar state and so I sympathize with their family's situation. Sometimes walking away is the only thing you can do. Don't judge others until you've walked a mile in their shoes. Money doesn't solve every problem, folks.

My engagement ring is on the small side of most of my friends, but my husband and I married later in life, and paid for my ring, and our wedding (which was expensive) ourselves without going into debt. I'd be interested to know the demographics here. There's more to the story than just ring size.
