Haha, this is such a great response. You’re right, of course. it’s really just the G-B-C move that’s similar. But it was totally worth it for this analysis. And I HAVE played both on guitar. :D I actually have a little musical theory too from college but it’s been so long...

Two-Headed Boy pt. 1 by Neutral Milk Hotel is very similar.

I get by with a little help from my friends.:D

12 years ago, I realized I’d basically quit reading. Since then I’ve read 50 books every year and reviewed them on a blog with a ommunity of other 50-Bookers. For me, I just had to read stuff I liked. It took me some time to get back into more difficult stuff, my first love, because jumping straight from nothing to

I don’t get the s3 hate either. It didn’t hang together like 1 and 2, but the little alien cartoon episode is one of the best things they’ve ever done. I’m excited for s4.

Highlander is a Trumper.

And why the heck am I back in the grays.

When I saw this headline, I was sort of hoping Obama would be Dave’s new bandleader.

This is absolutely the right take. Especially until season 6/7, the mythology mostly holds together and definitely adds a ton to the show. I doubt the show would have made it past season 1 without it.

Exactly. I don’t necessarily equate “content producer” with “YouTube personality”, arbitrary as that might be.

I’ve been going through MBMBaM in order for the first time and they were definitely more abrasive when they started. They’re pretty mellow and positive now.

This sounds awful but also very well-conceived. Seems inevitable now that I read it.

Are the McElroys YouTube personalities? because they’re definitely not terrible.

Ha, hell if I know! :)

It did say TSA on the car door. But I agree.

None of Joyce except the Wake is nearly as hard as its reputation—you’ll miss most of the allusions but the characters and stories still work just fine. I read Ulysses in about a week and loved it. He’s also often very funny.

Hello, fellow “I read things because they were 1.99" reader! I also read Handmaid and Old Man’s War for that reason.

I love Pratchett and like Gaiman but Bad Omens felt scattershot and like it emphasized the worst attributes of both authors. I don’t really understand why it’s so beloved.

I read The Bell Jar expecting it to suck and loved it. So.

East of Eden is one of the most up and down books I’ve ever read. It’s not subtle at all, Cathy is a borderline misogynist caricature, and the magical Chinaman is embarassing. But when it’s firing on all cylinders it’s so good. I ended it with a high opinion but it’s so flawed, I often reconsider.
