That’s where I went when trying out this recipe. Anyone, feel free to educate me, but I don’t see anything that burned onions give to this recipe that isn’t better done with deeply caramelized onions instead. I haven’t experienced any difference in baking properties between the two, in my usage. The taste difference is fairly noticeable to me, though, in many applications, so that I use refined unless I’m looking for a strong hit of coconutty flavor.
