color me disappointed/surprised there isn’t a recipe for them on Serious Eats.

I didn’t know until today that cranberry beans existed.

The zucchini didn’t work due to lack of salt. a pickle would have given you a light show.

Lunchables are just a low-brow charcuterie board.

yeah, ‘cos when I want good chocolate I think about getting it from the home of desiccated pizza and ossified chicken wings.

Knowing that humans, no matter how much they care about the planet, will never be able to kick their diet soda addictions

I like how in a lot of old cookbooks they just say things like “place in a moderate oven” or “slow oven.”

Turmeric reared its ugly head on me years ago during my first trip to Japan.  For reasons unknown to me, at a noodle shop I ordered curry udon.  Even though I didn’t really know how to “properly” eat udon (lots of noodles falling back into the bowl.)  and I was wearing a white shirt.

It helps when you grew up around grandparents from the “white flight” generation.  You learn how to avoid grimacing too much and just let things pass.

(My grandmother ran a similar subterfuge: for her entire life, she made a great show of seeking and appearing to defer to men’s opinions, and then she proceeded to do exactly as she pleased.)

I can’t even begin to describe how impressed we all are.

I can believe that. I can appreciate a four-cheese lobster mac & cheese, yet sometimes a glop of the boxed Kraft stuff is what hits the spot.

I’ve always been a firm believer in Gulden’s mustard and hot, toothsome sauerkraut.,

I dunno, it seems like everyone in California eats at In-n-out every day, so...

i know these offerings are like, meant to representative of middle-America or whatever and that’s why pols flock to these places to seem “normal” but can someone tell me if people eat these on the regular?

before I saw the byline, my first thought after reading the headline was “Allison! DON’T!”

I didn’t address the steak for a reason.

I can’t remember if it was here or at Serious Eats, but Annie’s organic ketchup was rated pretty highly in a comparison, and after trying it I had to agree.

do you also bitch about people putting mustard and kraut on a bratwurst?
