Something seems fishy here. All the work done to clean up its dirty diesel was done in August of this year, and four months later they’re trying to sell it for a kinda/sorta low price? I’m going ND because I’m distrustful.

We were looking into buying one of these and after doing my due diligence research on it decided hard no. Drivetrains is not the issue, it’s mostly the air suspension and general Mercedes-ness of it.
While she didn’t say it (in an otherwise excellent article about an excellent man dealt a brutal Presidency), I’m guessing she’s thinking about the Levittowns that popped up after WW2. Before that, suburbs were a bit more organic and not like the crammed cul-de-sac sameness that has spread like cancer all around the…
Jimmy Carter was both a good President and a good man through and through. Conversely, there’s not a decent cell in Trump’s body, unless it’s a cancer cell. The “malaise” (a word President Carter never used) of the late 1970s looks pretty good compared to the utter shitshow we’re about to face.
The same people who bitch endlessly about politicians being corrupt and useless are the people who vote for reagan over Carter and trump over Biden, and somehow never make the connection.
I never voted for Jimmy Carter, but I have nothing but respect for his legacy.
My Republican father who was an engineer in a nuclear power plant highly respected Carters experience as a nuclear engineer and submarine commander. When Carter introduced the solar panel tax credit he immediately installed them on the roof of our house where they not only provided a more than adequate source of hot…
God help me, but I voted NP.
Basis transportation in good shape under 100,000 miles and under five grand. Easy nice price here, good car first car for a kid, or adult with not a lot of dough that needs a car. Sport decals are goofy, but kinda in the who cares category, you are not buying this because you want to impress anyone, you are buying…
Eh, it runs (I assume) and it’s fairly clean. NP
I’m surprised that the Subaru Ascent didn’t make the list. It feels like the right size to replace a Mazda 5. Good cargo room, fold down seats to expand hauling, good roof to rack up, and extra seating for the family and maybe some friends of the kids. I’ve ridden in a relatives a few times and came away impressed. At…
2017 Prius V?
We had a 2014 Mazda5 and loved it as a relentlessly efficient TARDIS of a car. If you need six seats in a small package the only real answers are buy the best 2014-15 Mazda5 you can find or a Transit Connect. Otherwise a Honda Fit is a sensible choice. I would avoid the Kia Soul, the older ones were a meh driving…
It does come down to how many people are being carried. The Fit (I’m definitely not objective) will carry 4 and their weekend luggage, or 2 and enough for at 5k trip.
Looks better than the lights on the Rivian (and I like Rivians)
By itself, I’m not crazy about the front or rear (the three light circles on each side are a bit odd). But, as a whole, it works.
Serious mode: the combination of 4x4 and a pop top points to a Sportsmobile conversion. An older van is probably a Quigley, although Sportsmobile did their own 4x4 Econoline chassis in the oughts. While a 460 big block does get lousy mileage, the 351W is less bad and some have 6.9 or 7.3 IDI diesels
Not sure how I feel about spewing soot from an old diesel into the atmosphere in this day and age.
There’s plenty of speed bumps, curbs, and gutters within a mile of my house that would damage a car that low to the ground. Add in the pot holes from snow plows on the asphalt, and the big rig caused pot holes on the syncrete and the chances for damage increase exponentially.
