I have no idea who this guy is, but Doug DeMuro already showed us this week what it's like to take an exotic car through a drive-through. I bet this Draco guy didn't have a 47" TV strapped to the roof of his Lambo!

What a cute picture of Doug. Jeff is right, he is hotter than you would expect.

I don't remember Doug DeMuro having red hair.

There will probably always be a project of some sort to get a new rotary sports car out there. Whether the project is one executive's pipe dream or a fully-funded R&D operation is a function of Mazda's excess cash and the state of the automotive economy.

5.8 seconds seems very slow for 0-60 in a tiny AWD car with 230HP. Must weight close to 2 tons!

If only they sold this wagon here!

Only if WRX = Miata.

NA? NB? NC? ND Mule?? We need details!!

I don't think anyone actually thought the original picture was real in the first place.

I suggest reading this to get your terms straight:

The RX8 has a Wankel rotary engine. The term rotary engine is also often used to refer to radial plane engines as well. Both uses are correct. It would be pretty bad if Mazda used the wrong term for its rotary engines for 40+ years.

If you really wanted to go for a big number, there are ton of little tracks along the way you could hit in major cities for low-hanging fruit. Depending on what you define as a race track, Atlanta alone has the following major places: Road Atlanta, Atlanta Motorsports Park, Atlanta Motor Speedway, Lanier National

All I heard was wind noise and tires.

Car is $30K too expensive.

WHY ARE ALL THESE ELDERLY RUSSIAN WOMEN CROSSING BUSY STREETS/HIGHWAYS??

This is basically a coupe version of the IS, NOT a FR-S/BRZ platform. FR-S would require big modifications to fit a giant V8 in there.

It actually costs a good bit of money to add in auto up/down windows because of the necessary anti-pinch sensors and other necessary hardware. A senior engineer at a big 3 automaker I talked to around 2007 quoted the incremental cost at around $100-200/window. It is not just a matter of adding a special button.

Right, it absolutely needs new suspension! There is a big difference between 100 and 400 hp. A bigger wheel/tire combo helps as well.

Other than the basic modifications to the subframe to make the engine and transmission fit in there nicely and have the proper support, the only real weak link in the equation is the rear end. Monster Miatas typically use a Ford or Chevy rear end to make sure it holds up. http://www.flyinmiata.com/V8/
