Would be nice to have reviews so we know which ones won’t fall apart after a month or get disabled by an OS update.

It’s very, very, very hard for me to imagine a Scuf product that is on the same level build-quality and materials-wise to the Elite 2. I’ve had exactly one scuf controller, and components were breaking a month and a half into the investment. Never again. Glad you like this one though.
Astro C40 for the PS4 was honestly…
That’s pretty absurd logic and definitely not true at all. I used to make edge-lord arguments in defense of awful positions to rile people up as a teenager and I suffered no consequences from it, yet I would never do that today because I’m a different person. A person does not need to be punished in order to realize…
The statute of limitations for most *felonies* is shorter than 14 years. If we can let first-degree rape slide after 12 years, I think it’s only fair to re-examine someone’s views 14 years after they said some bone-headed things. Especially when it’s someone who pretty clearly doesn’t espouse those views anymore
I agree with this, but also... 2007 was 14 years ago. If someone has shown some sort of personal growth, will we hold them accountable for old statements forever? What does “personal growth” even mean when it comes to professional relationships and employment?
Precisely. I’m Korean-American. This sort of thing isn’t shaking my identity down to its core and bringing me to tears.
Is this the biggest controversy in gaming? No, of course not. Would it be nice if orientalism wasn’t perpetually used by white people as short-hand for futuristic/exotic/mystical, etc.? Yes.
It’s a made-up language that happens to look exactly like Korean. OK, that makes sense.
so... he says it is fun, but not why and says he likes the visuals in six or eight different ways? I think if you go back and reread these quotes you could see why one would wonder what he actually likes besides that one character and the visuals
Seems like you got oddly hung up on my first comment rather than reading my itemized breakdown in this very thread. Go find me 100 words worth of praise in this 1500+ word review and we can have a discussion.
Beyond letting me know the game exists, this review gave me next to zero useful information about whether I should play it or not.
I don’t know how to explain to you any clearer that we don’t actually think poorly of this game that you so clearly love. We think poorly of this review because it sucks.
I’m not trying to criticize the game, I haven’t played it. I’m criticizing this reviewer for putting forth a thesis of “blown away/GotY contender” and then not actually saying very many good things about it.
No, that was my low-effort shit-take. here’s the high-effort one. The one that an editor at a multimillion-dollar website should have done before they published this.
My problem is that he says the game is great, but never tells me why. And yeah, I DID read the whole review. It breaks down like this:
1. Intro paragraph…
Why/how are you defending this review while telling people to read other reviews for a more complete take? To state the obvious, if the review is solid it shouldn’t need other reviews to justify it’s stance.
Chill bro. No one is saying the game is a POS, or implying they want it to be. Rather, these are complaints about the framing of the review, which begins by saying it makes good on CP2077's promise, but then the game doesn’t (try to) do any of the things that game does, and then the review mentions a number of buggy…
Lol what on earth is with the framing of this article? Making good on the promise of Cyberpunk 2077? Did you think what that game promised you was “slightly better cyberpunk vistas?” It’s a largely uninspired twin-stick shooter Diablo clone. Absolutely wild to spin it as being the real Cyberpunk game because... idk,…
I know you’re mostly confused by viewers’ motivation in this, but hear me out while I talk about the player first. And also, kudos to you for trying to understand others. So often it feels like people don't bother.
The system was interesting and innovative, and made me care about random NPC’s more than GTA ever did. I remember after running over and killing an operative’s sister, I never again drove so recklessly.
That being said.... I was doing a lot of the heavy lifting there to make the experience immersive.
I don’t doubt that…
Characters couldn’t say things like “Wow, remember that time I did that thing with you and you got mad and I then did this other thing and made you happy again?” because there was no guarantee the character you currently were playing as had done anything before this.
