I mean sure, but it’s so obnoxious and frustrating to watch, at least for me. If he actually wants to make distinctions on what types of wins he wants, he should stop competing. If he wants to win he should stop pretending he cares about the exact optics of the win. Racing is a sport designed around finding the

Not obscure at all. But not relevant here. They penalized Vettel for an unsafe return. Had he given up the spot the penalty would have been the same. He didn’t cut the corner, he lost the car. Cutting would be choosing to skip the Monaco chicane because you had a bad angle or came in too fast. This was crash

Ask Hamilton. He seems to think its a lot of the latter, many of us would like him a lot more if he didn’t try so hard to be ‘nice’ and ‘likable’

I didn’t mean to imply anything nefarious. It was a masterful drive. He exploited the only advantage he had this weekend, better under pressure driving than Vettel of late, to take the victory from the stewards room. So he should own that hard fought victory rather than pretend he didn’t want it. If he actually didn’t

100% this. This is a much more succinct way to say what I’ve been trying to all over this thread. Thank you. Act like a champion or a spectator, there isn’t really a middle ground

Fair or not, kinda irrelevant. There have been unfair calls in sport since inception. They are part of the game. The thing thats grating and obnoxious is when one of the greatest and most dominant champions of all time tries to pretend he doesn’t enjoy winning even through a questionable call in his favor.

I do honestly think he got joy from winning. He’s a competitor. He forced an error that lead to an opponent almost taking him out and prevented a passing attempt. Of course on winning by passing on track or causing an error that left Vettel behind would have been a little more ‘pure’ but to suggest that there’s no joy

This is fair. I think there is a distinction between having a confident, competitive edge and bad sportsmanship though. Not sure owning that you are currently dominating a sport crosses into bad sportsmanship in my book. Was Muhammad Ali a bad sport or an entertaining, confident champion? Is my off the cuff phrasing

He’s a champion and a vicious, serious competitor. I just want him to stop pretending he’s all nice and pleasant and wants his competitors to do better. If he wants us to know he’s a good person, spend the offseason on charity work. While racing, own the fact that you and your team are crushing all. He was so

I mean, to me that’s part of the problem. Hamilton is rightfully a vicious competitor, willing to beg, fight, plead and whine for every tenth of a second advantage. So just be that all the time in the sporting context.

I know. It was amazing, one of the few times I’ve been glad I had the audio on. I wish there was any englishg language broadcast that wasn’t sky. Even if I were a Hamilton fan I can’t imagine being able to tolerate “the Lewis Hamilton Grand Prix of Canada (with some other guys I guess)” broadcasts for long.

That’s kind of his whole thing. Hamilton is always transparently playing a part and clearly thinks he’s much more clever about it than he really is. It’s really grating and tiring. He’s the friend who pretends to be concerned but only wants to know what’s bothering you to use it against you. Part of why he can win so

Kinda disagree on the timing of a house party. You know they’ll be there all night so it’s super unimportant to be anywhere near on time or precise with your timing to a house party unless you have a specific reason.

Yeah, I’m with you 100%. And honestly, though it’s not for me to judge at all, I think knowing that a night out isn’t a party makes you cooler not uncool. Only someone pretty lame would get excited and call “we’re going to O’Hooligans at 9, bring anyone” a ‘party.’

I always carry on liquids and a knife. Never have trouble because I’m a white dude who clearly travels a lot. TSA only exists to create security theater with the goals of keeping people in enough fear to give up more and more rights willingly and reminding us of the narrative that the so-called real bad guys are the ‘f

Also true, problem was the driver’s front wheel of her car was sitting on part of the storm drain, so it was easier to fish it out than to get the car towed to remove the grill.

Yeah, this was pretty lame. I fished a the key to my Airbnb out of a subway ventilation grate with a string and ‘s’ hook I found in a tiny hardware store in Milan without speaking English. And my mom’s car key from a storm drain with a rubber stopper, drill bit, eyelet hook and a length of tile edge trim. Everyone

They do already. The Alfa 4C is exactly that. You can buy and put a prancing horse badge on the cheapest new 4C in the US today for under $52k. Probably 90% of people will believe its a Ferrari if you tell them. Turns out the ‘cheap supercar’ market isn’t worth it since they sell exponentially more Ferraris than 4Cs.

How was Hamilton the best driver? Bradley’s argument is not that the winner can’t get mvp, but that almost any running car in front can stay in front at Monaco. Which means simply wining with some ratty tires (same age as those on the rest of the front runners if a softer compound) isn’t all that impressive.

I take pictures of this car most times I pass through Reno. One of my all time faves for sure!
