"Imposing chair" defined as "any sort of throne, preferably made of the skulls of your vanquished enemies or, if you have only recently begun your Diabolical career, skulls of someone else's vanquished enemies purchased on eBay."

At least they didn't have to stray far from the source material.

That's fine, but the fact that scenes I specifically wanted to see in the context of the full movie weren't there and it angered me.

Now playing

I'd like to nominate the "Cloverfield" trailer.

That is fantastic news! I came across a couple of your short stories in a Tor collection a couple of months ago and enjoyed then quite a bit. Looking forward to the book!

It began with so much promise, but even early on, the presence of the "magic baby" told me suckitude was coming. And it did.

Bob died seven times last Thursday.

Ten to fifteen years ago, I used to see the wonderful Troma films on television all the time (cable, of course): The Toxic Avenger, Class of Nuke 'em High, Surf Nazis Must Die, Sgt. Kabukiman NYPD, Chopper Chicks in Zombietown, Troma's War. Now, nothing. You'd think they'd be great grist for the SyFy mill, in rotation

I'd like to nominate Jim Butcher's "Codex Alera" series as an honorable mention. The high-effect work would involve ground battles, sea travel, and one kick-ass "alien" species with a set-piece every few shows.

But there were also plenty of smaller bits most of you likely overlook that I, thanks to my lack of saturation, was able to thoroughly enjoy.

May I toss in two more?

Good idea. Darabont had no solid reason to change the ending King had written and his doing so made a fairly tolerable movie bad. I don't trust him with a television series.

"Oops", she said from October, 3113.
