This is what the future looked like in the early 80's. This is not futuristic design. This belongs in the running man or Logan's run. Look at the Rivian for a truck that embraces advanced design. 

First design looks way better.

There’s a difference between bold and our lead designer was a five year old.

One will make it into production in my lifetime, the other...doubtful.

It has a 6'6" bed - under the sort of roller shutter that you fit to shopfronts in, erm, low-rent neighbourhoods

Part of me admires the brutality of it, the raw unedited and unrefined brutalism of it speaks to me.

However, the other part of me has eyes.

This truck is like something out of a movie...a low budget 80s movie taking a half ass guess as to what cars in 2020 will look like.
