I am public policy chair for the American Nuclear Society’s Pittsburgh section, nuclear power professional, and occasional author and educator. I am certainly a pro-nuclear activist, but am not paid outside of occasional educational work. In that sense, I don’t think I’d be considered a lobbyist.

Hazardous waste can be dramatically reduced by recycling the fuel...which America doesn’t do for whatever unholy reason.

Because some fudge the numbers when accounting for the mining/refining process.

And if a coal or gas power plant blows up, it also causes damage.

Find for me one death attributable to Fukushima Daichi. The vast amount of damage is due to the tsunami. About 40 plant workers were injured during the quake and tsunami with some exceeding lifetime exposure limits for radiation. However, there are no injuries or deaths of the local population attributable to

The bears were the the Decatur starts then the Chicago staleys and and George Halas is the only reason the nfl exists. shut the packers wouldn’t even exist if he didn’t go to green bay and beg them to build the packers a new stadium learn your nfl history

Nuclear is one of the safest energy sources we have. It’s caused less deaths per kWhr that pretty much any other source of energy we have. It is actually 1,000,000 times safer in the US than coal, (1,100 times safer world wide)

Every form of energy produces hazardous waste. Nobody else comes close to addressing all of it like the nuclear industry.

This is no longer true. We can air-cool modern nuclear plants with minimal loss of efficiency/power. As it does cost more, nobody has done it (I think there is one, very old plant in Russia)...however, we can if need be.

They don’t pollute the water they use. The cooling systems that actually come in contact with the water are closed loop, because they don’t want to expose the core to the environment, even indirectly. The secondary (or tertiary) cooling loops are exposed either by dumping the water or by evaporation (the cloud you see

Yeah...killed absolutely nobody despite being half a century old in design. Meanwhile, the same disaster caused oil refinery BLEVEs and dams to collapse, both causing deaths, and it was basically not covered. Nuclear has the lowest death toll/GWh of any energy form extant. On its worst day, it’s safer than just about

Anecdotes for everyone!

No carbon emissions from the plant itself but uses a lot of water and produces hazardous waste. Need to get on those next gen reactors, thorium or spent fuel.

Worst mistake the Decatur Staleys ever made.

Hot dogs are fun & all, but if you’re eating more dogs than italian beefs & polish sausages you’re doing it wrong.

Plus it’s not geography dependent like hydro, wind, or in some cases solar.

I think most fans know how bad they are and just wish for the NFL to finally go away. Soldier Field is now a place for an outdoor hockey game or too. I’d rather watch the NU/Illinois game.

Is someone too insecure in their masculinity to have gotten over the name “Italian beef” and tried this excellent Chicagoan sandwich?

How is nuclear power unclean? It’s the cleanest mass-deployed source of power in the world.
