Hey....
Hey....
I’m sure Porcello was just being VERY smart with his comments - the Sox have to keep dealing with this rube - no sense in pissing him off.
More like a buner, amiright?

Pedantry: not a penalty. Just a violation that ends the play. The receiving team is not punished – the play just ends without opportunity to advance the return.
No. A valid fair catch signal is generally above eye level. You’re supposed to give time to make the signal and have it recognized by players and officials, otherwise you lose protection.
Correct. While the coach may have informed the referee about the trick play in pre-game (and subsequently informs the rest of the crew to avoid a potential inadvertent whistle), that play should have been called dead immediately once the ball was caught by the receiver, due to the invalid fair catch signal.
If the Browns go 0-0-16, would they have the same winning percentage of an 8-8 team? If a playoff spot were open between them and an 8-8 team, who gets in strictly based on W-L totals?
I have reservations about starring this comment.
Honest question - what exactly happened? I watched the replay multiple times, and tried to slow it down so I could see everything. The UCF player (Robinson) was coming over from the middle of the field, angled toward the sideline, while the UConn player was heading north-south upfield. I don’t even think they were…
Umpire here. Squaring to bunt is not the same as offering at the pitch. Squaring is just a stance. Batters would not be allowed to pull back if this were the case.

Umpire here. Yes, Ward would still be out. Everyone would have to be absolutely sure of the order in which things happened. If Profar steps on the base first, that removes the force—Ward does not have to advance, and he is ok if he stays on third. If Profar tags Ward first, the force is still in effect on the runner…
That’s only on the west side of the field.
+1 Encore
It just needs to be restored to the point where it’s stabilized and can be installed in a rock-n-roll museum somewhere.
It’s also the tackler initiating contact with the helmet. If the ball carrier initiates the contact by lowering his head immediately before being tackled, thus making first contact is helmet-to-helmet, there should not be a penalty on the defense.
Which is why I have two accounts. One represents me in my vocation (graphic designer); the other is the more “colorful” account. Lots of bad jokes, off-color humor, and political rants. But it doesn’t have my name in my handle, so there’s a bit of a buffer.
